We visited Café Medi with a group of 10 and were able to make a reservation for 5:30 without any issues. The staff was kind on the phone, and it was quick and easy to get booked, which we appreciated.
When we arrived, there was a strong smell of cleaning product at the entrance—like they were trying to cover up something sour. Luckily, our table was in a different area of the restaurant that didn’t have the same odor.
It seemed like we had a brand-new server or someone still in training. While we understand everyone has to start somewhere, the service was a bit chaotic. Drinks came out one at a time after long trips across the restaurant, and food delivery felt very unorganized. The server would come out holding dishes and ask “Who had the side salad?” or just yell out the name of the item without knowing where it went. It was difficult to hear across the large table, and rather than walking around or asking for help passing dishes, they kept reaching over people to place plates down—definitely not ideal.
We ordered several appetizers including tzatziki, hummus, saganaki, and dolmas. The tzatziki had an unusual texture and wasn’t the best tasting, but the other apps were good, and they brought out plenty of warm pita.
My charbroiled chicken entrée came with a side salad that was fresh and tasty. The chicken itself was okay—tender but could’ve used more seasoning. Everyone else at the table felt their meals were just average.
Overall, the staff was friendly, and the space was nice once we got settled, but the food was hit or miss, and the service experience felt a bit unpolished. There’s potential here, but a little more organization and consistency would...
Read moreReally disappointed. I wanted to like this place having grown up in a Greek neighborhood. I wouldn’t be writing this except for the fact that I had a severe stomach ache once I got home which lasted for hours. I had Souvlaki which came with rice, green beans and garlic Mayo. The string beans with dinner tasted like they came out of a can and I’ve never had any of those sides with Souvlaki . . . EVER. Garlic Mayo? The moussaka was off a bit, can’t put my finger on it. The hummus was fine but way overpriced for something that’s just fine and seems like it’s store bought. The Baklava was not fresh and certain bites were hard. This food is someone’s attempt at fooling unsuspecting customers that it’s Mediterranean because they think the American palate either won’t know the difference or can’t understand the fresh flavors. And the women’s bathroom! was not something I’d willingly use, but had to. I’ve seen gas station bathrooms in better shape.the door jam is dark with dirt (the door is painted white) and things were sticky, not to mention that the toilet has a bidet system that has seen better days. Why??!!!! Staff is not engaged except for one young lady (not our server) who seemed to be in tune with her tables. Really disappointing and too expensive for a sub par experience. I...
Read moreWe had the salmon, chicken shawerma and Greek salad.
The waitress was super nice andthe decor was really nice.
The salmon was and sauce were good, but there might have been some cross contamination because I'm allergic to shellfish and was having a small reaction. Not positive, but should have probably inquired about that. The chicken was good and a good portion as well. I was a little disinfectant the veggie though. Most places I have been I get grilled vegetables. The vegetable was green beans. The other guest liked them and stated it felt more like a green bean soup. It also tasted like green beans out of the can. Flavor was ok, however I would have preferred grilled veggies.
The salad was good. The only warning I have is that the olives do have the pits.
For the price, I would have expected at least a little hummus on the side.
It is a bit pricey, but what isn't these days?
I would try this place again just to give them a fair chance. It appears to be authentic based on the menu and the...
