Ordered thru drive-thru, a Chicago style hotdogs w/french fries, a order of chicken tenders w/french fries w/ranch dressing dip on the side, a strawberry sundae, a chocolate malt, Raspberry tea, 2 pieces of chocolate cake (for my kiddos that were at home). The order taker- was polite, and patient, considering this was my first time and I was taking forever to decide what to get and made changes to our order a couple of times. She even read back our order for accuracy [it was accurate when we got it also* which is not been the case at many restaurants or fast food places in the area (Yorkville restaurants) at all lately. Our food was made fresh, it was very obvious by the look, taste, and hotness. I initially was going to get a plain ketchup and mustard hotdogs, but then I read the way the Chicago Style came, and switched up... it had Onion, Tomatoe, Ketchup, Mustard, sweet pickle, some kind of peppers, on a poppy seed bun. I took off the peppers because I was not sure if they were spicy/hot pepper's, and did not want to chance it. (Just wasn't a day to eat something spicy.) However, the Hotdog was FIRE, LIT, Delicious, So So good... and would highly recommend trying it if you are not a fan of Chicago style, because this makes some of the traditional Chicago style hotdogs that you find in Chicago, or even Portillo's look down right sad... it so worth the try and I was Surprised by just how yummy it was. The french fries, were a traditional crinkle cut/deep fried, and just the right of cooking, not under done and mushy or overcooked and dried up or super crunchy. Just the perfect salt to fried ratio that eating them plain was on point with my hotdog. I am not a huge ranch dressing dipper for chicken tenders or french fries (cuz my daughter always eats like that) but the ranch was banging too. It was not thick or drippy and just the right amount of flavor, that I actually even tried it on my fries, and hotdog. My daughter said she loves the chicken tenders, they were great size and portion, not the really narrow tenderloin strips but a good 4 oz. portion about for each tender. Crispy, and moist chicken cooked right with No undercooked Or overcooked rubbery look like some places restaurant or fast food places in the surrounding area of town. My daughter ordered because someone at her work had bought food their and she said they looked good, and she had to try them. I asked her if she would order again, she said Absolutely. The sundae was vanilla icecream with strawberry drizzle and whip cream, my daughter has order that before and she said she never disappointed, it yummy. It a soft serve icecream I believe. I tried it and I am not a strawberry icecream kind of person, but I agree... was very good. I ordered the chocolate malt and I loved it... good chocolate taste and thickness for a malt style. I did not get to try the Chocolate cake slices, but my children loved it so much that they said it is similar to the Portillo's chocolate cake, (it looked very moist on the cake part, and the chocolate frosting looked creamy and thick sliced, double layer, richness that I am not even needing to drive all the way to Oswego for it... Smokey's is the spot!!! I wish I had been here years ago. I only came in once years (6) before to ask about fund raising donations for a gift basket when my daughter was in cheerleading and they even donated gift certificates back then. Honestly, I am looking forward to going back and trying other option's on the menu. I think what through me off was the name, but now Smokey's it is for a Delicious, Fast, Friendly, Convenient meal of goodness. Thank you Smokey's for the Great Food and Service. I didn't give it 5 stars because I did not order anything to complicated, and it just my first time really eating their food, so I will update this post once I try more! 😁 Next time I will...
Read moreIts food! The absent smell of smoke and the giant menu should have been enough for us to turn around and walk out, but we decided to try it out. Ok, so we asked the girl at the counter what she suggested and she said the pit boss sandwich was a big seller. The description of the sandwich is beef brisket, pulled pork, onion rings, and coleslaw piled on a bun. It came with fries and a drink, I chose mac n cheese instead of fries and my friend got fries. They have two sauce options, original and spicy, these can be purchased at the counter. Lets start with the sauce options. The original tasted like mildly doctored up sweet baby rays and the spicy tasted like a half and half mix of hot sauce and sweet baby rays. Not very good. Next the sides. My friend describes the fries as overcooked, under salted straws of disappointment. The mac n cheese was ok, it tasted like the name brand box kind that everyone loves but not original. Last, the sandwich itself. The only admirable trait that this sandwich has is that its very big and could fill up a big guy like me. Unfourtunatly that's the only good thing about it. The entire thing was bland. The slaw tasted like mayo, and the brisket and pork were indistinguishable. There was no smokey flavor, and no seasoning used at all. The only option was to douse it in unimpressive bbq sauce. The best part of my meal was the lemonade. I gave this place two stars solely because of the amount of food you get for the price. Our two meals cost about 27 bucks so not to bad. I would never recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a good bbq place, only to someone who was hungry. It is basically fast food bbq. Go to South Moon Bbq in Hinkley witch is about 20...
Read moreI walked in today, 08/26/21, and approached the counter ready to order a couple minutes before the noon hour. It was not busy and there were only a couple diners seated at tables and there was nobody else in line. There was a male employee standing at the drive-up window busy and working taking orders. There was a woman behind the counter about 15 feet away cleaning a machine. There was the cook looking at me through the service window, and a fourth person, a woman standing next to the cook in the kitchen visible through the window. All four of the employees made eye contact with me, a couple on numerous occasions, however none of them acknowledged my presence or asked to take my order. The only one that looked busy was the guy at the drive-up window. I would have been ok with it if they would have acknowledged that fact that I was there and maybe indicated some how they would be with me shortly. I am normally very tolerant but I knew they all saw me and chose to not take my order. The cook, who was looking right at me could have encouraged another employee to take my order. After about 5 minutes, I walked out while all of them watched, they all knew I had been waiting to order. I did not say anything. There were only two cars in the drive-up and the same two were there when I walked out. I work from home and had gone out on a personal appointment and needed to get back to work. I like Smokey's, the food is not cheap, but it is always very good. I motored down the road and found someone else willing to take my money. ...
