The Hill Tavern — Restaurant in Kenilworth

The service was solid and the drinks were great. So if I was going for a happy hour, this would be a good choice. However, the food left a lot to be desired. I know this is a pub style place and went in with the expectation that this is going to be bar food. We ordered the sriracha chicken bites as an app, they were glorified chicken nuggets drenched in spice to hide how dry and otherwise flavorless they were. I ordered a salmon burger as my main and for the price I expected it to at least be kind of fresh. It was clearly a frozen patty with more breading than fish and tasted heavily of fish oil. I think Costco fish sticks would have tasted better. I ordered mine without onions and it was smothered in them. If they were easy to remove, I wouldn’t so much mind but they were all mixed in with the greens so it was either remove all the toppings or eat the onions. I arrived at the RedKnot on a Friday night at 8:10.P.M. with my girlfriend. Their closing time was 9:00P.M. Upon arriving and asking to be seated, they said we could not be seated in the dining room. So I responded, we cannot eat at all? She replied that we could sit at the bar. So we did, and before having the opportunity to order, they asked my girlfriend for her ID even though we weren’t going to drink, she had left her wallet in the car. Afterwards refusing to serve us food unless we grabbed her ID. We just wanted to eat, and they denied us our right. The manager in charge was extremely rude, and simply gave me the impression that she wanted to go home rather than do her job and serve us a plate a food. We had a engagement party at The Hill Tavern! We paid a large amount of money!!! At the party I noticed that we were not getting the food that we ordered. I approached the manager and discussed our concerns. He told me he would talk to our event planner. He returned apologizing that they made a mistake.... My guest were already eating. Needless to say I was frustrated. Embarrassed. Furious. My party was ruined. My guests left hungry. The food that they did supply was horrible.
