I just had the worst experience ever. I was there today 7/26/2024 with my son and my 3 years old grandson for dinner. We arrived there at around 5:32 and there was just two tables with two families each. The first thing we noticed was that the seat had bread residue on it. My son cleaned it up. The rest was a very long wait, the tables that arrived after us started dining before us. My 3 yr old grandson wacthed how all four tables who came in after us were served with meals, and what about his? When Karen (server) finally brought me the dish recommended by the house, Bob's Big Fish Sandwich, the fish had no flavor at all, it was bland. No salt, no black pepper, no lemon at least. After a long wait, Karen B, came to our table. I told her that the fish had no flavor at all, and Karen very rudely and annoyingly told me that she had been working in restaurants for 25 years and that the fried fish was served that way: No flavor at all, plain. I told her I didn't want it, and after a long discussion I agreed to get a hamburger. After more than 20 minutes waiting for the hamburger, I stood up and went to the cashier to pay because I felt offended and discriminated against. I had seen other orders going through and my burger was not coming out. Karen came to the cashier with a box and threw it on the plateau. Karen went on to argue again stating that "in all restaurants the fried fish was served that way: plain and without any flavor". Karen could not finish closing our bill and asked for help from a young and very polite girl, who cashed us out by removing the fish order. When we got home, we noticed that the burger did not come with the serving of French fries or any toppings as it was on the menu. My advice to everyone is that if you go to Bob's, avoid being served by Karen. TO BOB'S COOK: "Please, take classes with Gordon Ramsey and learn how to fry fish. The food with no flavor is not considered a well served meal. Bland food is a disrespect to...
Read moreI love the new big booths and murals. The staff are still good. The quality of the fresh fruit is worth raving about. I've never been to another restaurant with such freshly cut fruit- it's not slimy or wet with old fruit juice. The kids' mouse pancake is so cute! I love the pulled pork with Mac n' cheese casserole, but the breakfast rocks too! The California burger is also a favorite! There are many reasons we keep coming back to Bob's and I love that they're keeping it fresh without losing their hometown feel.
March 16th 2024 edit: I took my family to Bob's today for dinner. We were seated... And sat there. And sat there. No greeting. No menus. No drinks. Not even an apology for the wait. When we finally reached out to a waitress about a menu, she referred us to another waitress in the distance and left to do something for another table. At least two other seated tables after us received menus without having to request them. Look- I'm not expecting immediate service when a place is busy and I don't mind waiting a little longer with at least a water to sip. But we sat there for a half hour, watching others be greeted and shown hospitality. The kids were fed up with no drinks and not even the promise of food waiting for them. So we left for another place which was even more crowded, and yet saw our menus and drinks within minutes.
Bob's has been kind to us over the years, but this experience has turned us off of Bob's for a time. I wish I could say this is a one-time trouble we've had here, but it's been an unfortunate trend over the last couple of weeks. Eggs that cooked in the window until they were no longer over-easy. A medium burger cooked to hockey puck hardness in the window. We had let these things go because at the time, they were single incidents and stuff happens. Now it's part of an unfortunate trend. Until this changes, we won't be back...
Read moreBob's diner in this location used to be such an amazing place to eat! It's sad that since Bob passed away and the staff has turned over multiple times, that it has gone severely downhill. We typically pick up from here, and almost every single time we have picked up food over the last 3 years, something has been wrong with the order... either they forget something or make something incorrectly, etc. Not only that, but every time I call to order takeout, they give me a time to pick it up and, inevitably, I end up waiting at least an additional 25 to 40 minutes for the food to come out. So, there I am, standing inside the restaurant waiting for it to be done... then they finally bring it out, I check it, and there's something wrong. Then I have to wait even longer for them to fix it! It's frustrating and mind-boggling how poor the service has gotten there. Lots of girls standing around, chatting, looking at their phones, and even eating while working, but no one seems to be accountable for what's actually being done, whether food is correct or not, whether guests are being greeted at the door in a timely manner, or checking to see whether to-go food is up yet knowing that a guest has been standing there for 20 minutes already waiting for it. We ate in a few months ago and the service was so bad that we agreed to never do that again and instead just continue to pick up. I love Bob's, I love their food, portions, prices, and menu selection, but this particular location is just awful anymore. It makes me very sad because Bob was a dear man and family friend and he had so much pride in his restaurants and his staff... :-( Maybe they bit off more than they can chew when they expanded the restaurant and made it larger. It seems like they simply cannot keep up with...
