Mediocre ramen. Small portion. Very Expensive. Not Fresh. Instant Frozen Ramen from Asian grocery.
This place is in an old diner off of Williams in South Kenner. Not much else around here besides Mexican and Wing shops.
When you enter, you're greeted with the heavy smell of grease. The menu looks really great.
We ordered Karage Chicken, Tonkatsu Ramen, and Chicken Katsu Ramen.
Before the food is all brought to the table, the waiter asks us to post a picture of us on their instagram...Come on man, how about we wait until we determine we're happy customers first.
The food...
The karage chicken was not karage chicken. Not fresh. Old oil. Blegh.
The ramen... This is the instant ramen you find in the frozen section at any Asian grocery store. I've had it a million times at home, and it's pretty evident. These products come with frozen ramen and a soup mix. That's pretty much what they serve. They dress it up with the standard stuff but poor quality. The egg was overcooked and under seasoned. The pork chashu was old. The chicken katsu was actually a piece of pork fried in really old oil.
Overall, this place isn't good. If you are new to ramen, you'll probably be fine. If you are looking for a legit bowl,...
Read moreAmazing ramen! I don’t spend much time in Kenner, but I’m staying in a nearby hotel while I take the bar exam, so I came here on a whim one day after testing. I’ve been to just about every ramen shop in New Orleans and I would put this place on par with the best, if not better than most. I got the Hangout Ichirin Ramen and it was incredible. Every single ingredient had a ton of flavor and purpose in the bowl, everything was tender and cooked to perfection, and the portion size was plenty.
The only word of caution that I’ll mention is that they do NOT mess around with the spice. I eat almost exclusively spicy food, even to some extremes, but this one snuck up one me. There were three spice levels, and I thought that the middle one would be a bit more tame. I was wrong. It was delicious, but know what you’re getting into with the spice levels. Other than that, do yourself a favor and try this place if you’re in the area. They have a pretty big menu and everything...

Hang Out has quickly become one of our favorite ramen spots! The flavor is incredible—especially the spicy sesame ramen, which is rich, bold, and deeply satisfying. Our kids absolutely love the tonkatsu broth, which is perfectly creamy and comforting.
We also tried the spare ribs—wow, they’re packed with flavor and fall-off-the-bone tender. The drunken fried rice is another must-try—perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious.
The staff are professional, polite, and genuinely kind, making us feel welcome every time. Service is always quick and efficient, even when it’s busy. It’s clear they take pride in what they do.
Whether you’re a ramen lover or trying it for the first time, Hang Out is worth the visit. Highly recommended for families and...
