Waffle House — Restaurant in Kenner

I marked this place down after going 2 nights in a row after the Essence Fest. It was the only thing open by our hotel. Night one was great. The African American gentleman (didn't get his name) was there alone with one waitress and was rocking and rolling. He was nice and fast. Taking orders and cooking them by himself getting them out back to back. He looked like a hibachi chef on the grill! So the next night, we expected the same.... WRONG! This time, same guy on the grill but an older white guy was taking the orders. He literally DID NOTHING but take orders, slowly, and rudely like it was an inconvenience. Then he proceeded to stand there watching the cook and complaining loudly about how long he was taking to prepare the orders. I have NEVER witnessed this at any Waffle House EVER. He didn't seem to care that the restaurant was overflowing with customers just waiting for their food. He didn't start any waffles or help prep any orders. He just stood there watching the cook, sighing, and rolling his eyes saying "we're waiting on him" whenever anyone inquired about their order status. He made not a single attempt to assist either the waitress or the cook. His attitude was condescending, and seeing him berate the ONLY person actually working to get all of those orders out was just disgusting! If he is a manager, he should not be. The cook never complained or responded to the denigration. He carried on with a smile and got our orders out as quickly as he could...

This review is based on waffle houses in general or restaurants of its caliber, not on the basis of fine dining, LOL.

That said, this is a charming little Waffle House by the airport. It is well staffed, and has your typical Waffle House selection. What really makes it shine is not so much the food (I've had better from Waffles elsewhere), so if it was based purely on food this would probably be a 3.5 star. Sad thing is, this Waffle House still provided me a tastier meal than restaurants where a frittata costs more than my total bill. You know who you are. 😒

That said, this is one of the cleaner waffles I've been to, it's near the airport, open 24 hours a day, the price is right, and the service is great. Even though they ran out of receipt tape, and our order got a little messed up by the kitchen, Jeannie took care of it all and even served us up a waffle out of kindness. Thank you Jeannie! I visited this location early in the morning around 430am -5am. As me and my friend entered this location we were not greeted by neither of the staff members working there. I proceeded to head to the table closest to the highway which I notice the far back table had a staff member cell phone on the table and the other two table was very dirty! Note" The place was not busy at all!" I was very disappointed with the service that I ans M my best friend received! The floors was dirty with trash on the floor and the Coke Cola Drink was out!There was a guy inside there not ordering any food but on the juke box machine playing oldies! There should be one person assigned to cleaning off the tables and jeeping the floors clean and especially wiping down the filty windows inside/out! And better service when taking a...
