Imperial Garden Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Kenner

I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for almost five years. The food was consistently good, and its location made it convenient for me to order regularly, especially my go-to: orange chicken with shrimp rice.

Unfortunately, today marked the end of that relationship. The shrimp rice I received looked and tasted completely different from usual; it was darker in color, had a spoiled, almost plastic-like taste, and there were no shrimp at all in it. It was truly inedible, and I had to throw it away.

Out of consideration for how long I’ve been a customer, I called the restaurant to let them know something was wrong with the rice. Instead of being heard, I was yelled at by the person who answered the phone. She insisted that I didn’t know what I was talking about, that nothing was wrong and said no one else had complained. Then she hung up on me.

I still tried to be patient and called back, hoping to speak to someone else. But it was the same person, who again refused to transfer the call or listen. I made it clear I wasn’t even asking for a refund. If that were my intention I would’ve returned to the place instead of calling, plus I had already thrown the rice away. I was just calling as a courtesy, to give them a heads-up that something was wrong. But the way I was treated was shockingly rude and unprofessional.

Had I been treated with basic respect, I probably would have chalked it up to one bad day. But after today’s experience, I’ll never order from this...

Horrible food, this wasn't my first time there, I have been there many times. Today the rice tasted old and the chicken was fried hard. The waiter came over to see if everything was okay, and I told him it wasn't, however I gave him his tip and just wanted to pay and leave. He went over and told the manager/cashier, she came over and ask "how is everything"?So I proceeded to tell her what I had told the waiter. She said" we have had many people before you an we cook fresh everyday. Okay that's fine, I answered, she CONTINUED to repeat the same thing. At this point after asking her to just charge my card and let me go, she continued to tried to argue about this nasty ass good. So I said to her " I don't care about how many people has been here before me or if indeed you cook freshly everyday,my experience is it's taste old and hard. She continued with the same argument about the nasty food. So I say to her run my card and let me go, and I will just leave a review, being PETTY she said and I will answer. I also am a business owner and the first thing that should have been done is to say , I,m sorry and can we prepare something else? But that never happened. It doesn't deserve one star. Oh and she said she would answer this review, and that's fine and then I will reply. PASS THIS PLACE UP!!! NASTY FOOD AND...

Update: I believe that this restaurant has been sold to new owners. The quality of the food and service has changed and not for the better. I tried them three more times and have decided sadly that I have to find another place to go. So I am lowering my ratings to this place to that 2 stars because it has become just another strip mall Chinese place.

Found this little gem courtesy of a friend. The old saying Don't judge a book by its cover applies to this restaurant. Being located in a strip mall can make you wonder if it's just going to be another of those every place strip mall Chinese restaurants. Come inside and have a meal and you will be pleasantly surprised. The interior is bright, clean, and inviting. The staff is always pleasant even remembers my order. Now for the food it's not fancy but it is very tasty and the portions are way too big for the price they are charging.

Not a fancy place but a place to get good food. We always eat I in from that I have witnessed that they do a brisk take out...
