I know, another pizza review. But it may be my favorite topic. Mezzaluna KSQ’s storefront is relatively new to the area. They are in a new building and the inside is very clean. The seating is nice as well. What I found odd were the 6 or 7 people standing in front of the ovens. None of them were making pizza when I walked in. Everyone was very friendly! They have a rack with premade (for orders) pizzas waiting to go into the oven.
If I take a step back, I called about a month ago, whoever answered asked me to hold but just placed the phone down. It was extremely noisy and they ended up hanging up on me. I called this order in last week. Much better experience. They answered and took my order. The Unique New York and Getting Figgy With It. The employee said it would be about an hour and 15 minutes, around 7:00pm. I was fine with it.
I arrived at exactly 7:00 and they just put my pizza in. So it was another 20+ minutes. Not horrible but that means it took them 1 hour and 35 minutes to complete my order.
The pizza - both pizzas were excellent. The pizza is thin yet robust. It had some char to the dough but wasn’t overdone. I prefer a bit more char but my wife thought it was perfect. Both were very flavorful and I would highly recommend these two pizzas. I can’t wait...
Read moreMy friend and I went to Locust Lane Brewery for my birthday yesterday and was SO excited to see that Mezzaluna was there. Who doesn’t love pizza and beer? First off, I was fascinated by the fact that there is such a thing as a mobile wood fired oven. The owners were really awesome and so easy to talk to. They had a great variety of pizzas; my friend got the pepperoni and I got the mushroom. They’re the perfect size for one person, which was great because we can never agree on pizza and I don’t like to share. Once we ordered, the pizzas were done in less than 5 minutes. Well, this by far is the BEST wood fired pizza I have ever had! The crust is perfect and I don’t usually say that a lot, and the cheeses and toppings were so fresh. They even gave me a white pizza for my birthday and I gobbled it up for lunch today-it was so tasty! The cheeses were so creamy and blended well with the prosciutto and balsamic glaze. You can tell when something is made with TLC and these guys clearly put a lot of love into their pizzas. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest...
Read moreThis is easily the best pizza I've had in a very long time. I've had their pizza from their truck a while ago (excellent, of course), but this was our first time in the brick and mortar! We came for lunch, it was quiet inside so we didn't have to wait very long for our food. We got a 16-inch Unique New York, and it was AMAZING, a treat for the pallette. Savory, with a bit of sweetness from the honey drizzle, the ricotta was rich, and fresh basil brightened everything up. The crust was crispy and crunchy while also being light and fluffy. As for drinks, they had bottled Boylan sodas available (the Birch beer is one of my favorites) along with bottled water (sparkling and still!). One of the owners (I believe) was in, and she was super nice! She checked on us a few times and made sure we were happy. It means a lot to me when the owner is hands-on with guests. This location has ample free parking, and it seems they can accommodate many dietary restrictions! We will definitely be back to make our way through...
