My friends and I stayed at Kennett House B and B for three nights to attend the local gardens and check out Kennett Square. What a delightful B and B, full of character, great service, wonderful breakfasts and the perfect location for walking downtown. We had two rooms for the three of us which worked out well. We could meet between the two rooms in a sitting area with games, a small refrigerator full of water and snacks. It was very comfortable and a good location to chat with other guests.||There is a wide front porch with rocking chairs that we made good use of every morning and afternoon with coffee or a snack.||Every morning of our stay Gilja (the host) had coffee and breakfasts ready for us at our requested times. Each breakfast was very good. French toast with scrambled eggs, mushroom omelet with bacon, blueberry pancakes with sausage. Each meal was served with juice and a lovely fruit presentation. We ate in a little room off the dining room away from the other guests who were coming in to eat as we were finishing up. Very safe set up because of covid.||Gilja shared a few kitchen items we needed for a snack one afternoon and gave us ice for our cooler another afternoon. Very accomodating.||The rooms were clean with comfortable beds, nice sheets and amazingly soft towels. At no time did I feel unsafe because of covid or any other reason.||The house is always locked and we had a pass code to enter.||I would be...
Read moreFirst the good news: the Inn is within easy walking distance of Kennett Square with all its charming shops and good restaurants; the building retains its historic value with granite facade and handsome interior wood moldings, foyer bannister, high ceilings, etc.; our room is a cozy suite at the back of the house (away from road noise) with a comfortable bed.|The negative aspects are the following: the House’s new owner (a family descendant) no longer wants the trouble of preparing a daily breakfast and this fact is not made clear on the business’s website and Trip Advisor has all these now outdated reviews of how wonderful this feature is! What we found instead was coffee one needed to brew oneself and prepackaged snacks offered in the common area upstairs. Beyond that, the informal caretaker told us the owner is actually in Hawaii and the former performs minimal housekeeping tasks in lieu of rent to keep things afloat in the latter’s absence. Thus, for example, big boxes of merchandise were piled up on the lovely front porch for the duration of our 4 day stay along with USPS stickers “Sorry We Missed You”. In short, one gets the impression of a once vibrantly-run place of hospitality becoming an inn set on autopilot. Clearly, this B&B is no longer worthy of the name and now just an ordinary rooming house situated in a...
Read moreUnfortunately, we found this place to be a disappointment. It does not offer any breakfast and the inn's website is not very explicit that it does not. The innkeeper should make this more explicit on the website as many "older" Trip Advisor reviews mentioned having been provided a nice breakfast. During our 4 day stay the innkeeper was never present. I called the innkeeper upon our arrival with a question and never received a call back. The few "common" rooms for guests are in some disarray, not very attractive and not very usable for guests. Guests have to make their own coffee in the morning. Not once during our stay was our room attended by housekeeping service; bath towels were never changed, used glasses and coffee cups were not removed, etc. It appears that the inn was perhaps once a more viable place to stay but that the current innkeeper is not interested in providing a nice experience for guests. Our bedroom/suite was nice and cozy so that was a plus. Also, the inn is fairly close to the town of Kennett Square which is convenient to restaurants so that is a plus. But taken together, I would not recommend staying at this place. I've stayed in many inns and I've never experienced one that seemed...
