It is the POLICY of The Creamery to SCAN YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE in order to verify your age. The Creamery now has in their system your full legal name, your address, everything you see on the front of your license, as well as the encoded information from your Federally Approved Identification. Everything that they scan into their system is YOUR personally identifiable information. They can keep it, share it, sell it, and lose it to a hacker. The venue promises that they delete the information. Perhaps, yet healthy skepticism is how I view promises like this.
Note that scanning your license is not a legal requirement, it is a convenience for the venue.
It's my policy not to hand my personal information to a business that simply needs to verify my age. Their convenience becomes my risk.
Update =========
At the request of the establishment I am writing about the experience other than that which I detail above. Fair enough.
Location: Conveniently located. The potholes on Birch Street ensure that there is no speeding.
Parking: Ample parking is available at the venue and at a fenced lot approx one block away. Other reviews have indicated that parking is limited. Not in February.
Atmosphere: It has the typical micro brewery in a warehouse feel. Open, airy, loud.
Venue: The venue does not charge for admission but does scan your id before you can enter. It is not a huge space but there is a larger feel to it. There are ample metal chairs and tables. No worries about the chairs being too comfy. There is a separate recreation/games area off to the side of the main hall. It appears to be family friendly, a place where you can bring your children and just let them go to run around. This isn't necessarily the venue's responsibility.
Food: Food is available and prepared to order at the venue. The menu offers a selection of salads, flatbreads, appetizers, and there are packaged deserts available. You can access the menu from google or the website. The food was about average but higher priced than other similar venues. I had a Flatbread pizza, more of an oval thin crust pizza, and it was large enough for me to take some home.
Beer: A selection of what I assume is their own beer and that of other top rated IPA's, ales and, and lagers on draft. All but one that I saw had an alcohol content of 5% or above. Commercial beer is available in cans and there is a selection of non-alcoholic beers to choose from. Beer is $7 a 16 oz pour or 12 oz can before tip.
Value: 2 people, 4 beers, 2 oval pizzas cost approx $65.
Despite the explanation offered by the venue for scanning your license, you are giving away your personal information just to enter the venue. When I insisted that I would not allow my license to be scanned the young lady at the door checked my age without scanning and allowed me to enter.
Read the other reviews. Other patrons enjoy the venue and from what I understand during warm weather there is...
Read moreSignificantly below sub par. Although we are all going through rough times during this pandemic, the service and quality of food did not meet expectations, and was below the standard of the industry. One major issue was the food area where employees are handling food, we observed masks were not being worn appropriately which could be seen in line while ordering food. See the following in regards to our experience and why we will never go back. As a “first timer“ there is a lot of confusion regarding when and what to order (drinks must be ordered from a table prior to ordering food). Ordered their tomato starter and 1/4 of spinach was bad and overall soggy as if it were pre-made and only consisted of spinach, tomato, and mozzarella. We also ordered the poke entree which had no flavor and matched it’s bland appearance. Additionally, we ordered a pizza that was in the system but was never in the process of being made (which happened frequently because while waiting in line, 3 others were also asking for their pizza). As for drinks, it’s a joke! The tequila mockingbird tased like watered down lemonade (believe it was also pre-made and watered down from adding ice upon request). While talking to the manager, another customer had a complaint and was told by the manager to go to their table in an unpleasant manner which was not friendly or inviting. Overall, horrible experience and definitely would not recommend to friends and family. Is a shame due to having potential but not emphasizing on...
Read moreDon’t go here if you’re trying to have fun or a birthday or any celebration of any kind, you are not allowed to bring in cake or balloons or any celebration items at all spent $200 on cakes for a birthday just to be told we could not bring them in after already driving 35 minutes there and even after offering to pay a cake fee. Had to take them all the way back home to keep them cool and not have them ruined, They are un-accommodating and honestly don’t care, customer service is nonexistent here, even though our party took up 90% of the patrons in the restaurant on the deadest of Sundays they still would make zero accommodations. All of the activities (axe throwing, shuffle board ect) were closed which was the only reason that we went there in the first place, this was not told to us when we called, there is no air-conditioning so if it is hot outside, be prepared to miserably sweat through your entire meal as there is also no fans that are actually moving any air around, sitting outside was the coolest option in 100 degree heat. we ended up leaving way earlier than planned due to how hot it was, how boring it was, and the fact that we had to go back to somebody’s house for cake because we were not allowed to bring it in. Do not waste your time literally go anywhere else. Food is OK. Drinks are not good. Ordered a watermelon margarita that was orange and tasted like orange juice we will never go back to this place again if we had another option that night we wouldn’t...
