My boyfriend and I were in the area and I told him what the food options were and he decided on Hawaiian! I was excited to stop by here too as they offered saimin and I have always wanted to try out saimin from a good Hawaiian spot as first impressions last forever. We entered and there was one person ordering and another person who was picking up their order. They have quite the extensive menu and it seems like the menu is only the one above the counter. My boyfriend got a regular loco moco while I ordered a BBQ chicken saimin and a side of mac salad. We also asked for water cups which they do provide. We did order for dine in but when our food arrived, it arrived in take out containers which I thought was odd but at least you won't have to ever ask them for one, I suppose?
I will admit they do offer some pretty big portions for their prices. I think the loco moco container was the biggest take out container that I have ever seen in my entire life. The saimin was also plentiful too, I do wish there was a little more meat as they have a lot of noodles. The broth was also too salty for my taste but I was able to balance it with sips of water, but just a heads up for those trying to watch their sodium intake. The loco moco was pretty good too. The mac salad was decent, I've had better though. We definitely want to try out their other dishes and some desserts!
The ambiance for this place is very bare. There wasn't even music playing and it was just the sound of the kitchen fans and conversations. There isn't much decorations but at least the wallpaper was inviting and nice. There are a few tables and chairs on each side of the restaurant. The service was also meh, not really friendly but not unfriendly either. It felt more rushed and the lady didn't ask which side my boyfriend wanted so just heads up to let them know what sides you want when you order a plate. Additionally, they don't check in on you after they drop the order off and you have to throw away your trash. But besides that, a solid Hawaiian food...

Okay, here me out- the test for any Hawaiian joint like this is their bbq chicken, and this place did NOT pass. The chicken was just like greasy and mushy, like it has been soaking in a big bin of similar greasy chicken pieces for hours, it had ZERO sear, just a pale flabby color like something that has been boiled or microwaved. The skin that was left on was just like a limp piece of fat that had no flavor. Honestly maybe the worst bbq chicken I’ve ever had from a standard place like this. The spam musubi was nothing special, no particularly good flavor or cook or construction, just like a standard gas station musubi, maybe worse. Honestly I’d give it zero stars if I could, I never leave reviews unless something is amazingly good or really really bad. And I loveeeeee Hawaiian food, never been so disappointed. Maybe I’ll go again and try something else. But actually I won’t, just because they had the nerve to call their restaurant “#1 Hawaiian bbq” but then manage to sploodge out the most lifeless, uninspiring, disrespectful, pile of poultry grease onto a bed of 6 strands of thick white bitter cabbage strands and call it a meal.
I’m not mad, I’m just...
Read more4 star review is amazing for a "quick service" restaurant. The cooks are fast, and only turn food as fast as they can make it. I am impressed. It's nothing exciting. Just go old comfort food made fast. I have eaten here many times. The Hawaiian Short Ribs are on point. The portions are big. Most everything is modestly priced. The full sized entrees are big. The ala carte menu which is your very basic burger, shrimp, cod, salmon ect... and a ton of other items is the real gem. The double cheeseburger I got was less than $8.00!! It was massive and hot! Came with, iceberg, white sweet onions, a thick tomato, pickles and a burger sauce and American cheese. It was simply made but a great classic dbl burger for under $8.00 and worth every penny. The fish sandwich/burger, same setup minus cheese and burger sauce then add tarter sauce. I was a butterflied piece of white fish, batter-fried when I ordered it! Everything is fresh and I will keep coming to a hearty, good, cheap lunch here! *Service is good and fast, the place is in a strip mall in Kent. The decor fits the Kent-Covington area. It's just basic seats and tables. Give this place a spin. You'll not be...
