From reading the other reviews my experience seems out of the ordinary. We arrived and were seated promptly. The restaurant is very clean and stylish as you can see from other photos.
We ordered 3 items, an appetizer of the Chicken Satay, an order of pad see ew with beef and an order of Thai Basil with ground pork. The wait for the food seemed rather long, we ordered before other tables around us but got our food after most of them have been served. Our 2 main items were served to us before our appetizer had come. We had to ask our waiter about our order of the chicken satay before we received it.
Like other reviews have pointed out the pad see ew was rather bland and lacked much flavor, we ordered it 2 spice level and there was no spice to it.
The Thai basil with ground pork was tasty and had a good amount of sauce. The only disappointing thing with this dish is that you have to pay for rice to be added which was $3.00. This rice was soggy and for the amount of money you're paying for it you would expect it to be prepared well, you would expect plain white rice to be prepared well at a Thai restaurant but I guess the rice is an afterthought since it does cost $3.00 to add to a dish that essentially requires rice to eat it with.
The chicken satay, even though it arrived later after we had asked about it was the most tasty item of the night. The sauces it was served with were prepared well and added additional flavors to an already flavorful appetizer.
For a new and expensive restaurant I came in assuming to be wow'ed more but after spending just short of $60 pre tax on 3 items I left somewhat disappointed in both the food and their service.
Maybe it will improve over time and I'll have to update my review in the future, but for now this is where my experience has left me, slightly hopeful for the future but mostly...
Read moreHats off to the interior designr. Loved the more "upscale" look which this area desperately needs. Music was at a good volume and was pleasant to listen to in the background.
We had the sampler which was well worth the money. All 4 options were fantastic especially with their respective sauce. Favorite was probably the dumplings. The "crab delight" had a stronger crab flavor than most I've had ) "rangoons," which I particularly enjoyed. Drinks were delicious I got the "Bangkok.. something" sorry.. don't recall the name. The smoking presentation was delightful and the drink was awesome to boot. Also don't recall the name of the drink my wife got.. mango chamoy margarita, she thought it was great as well. Pad Thai (Chicken): Wife thought it was good, but "not the best she's had." If you are the type of person who can handle jalapenos, you should at least order spice level 3 minimum. She regretted ordering at a 2. Crying Tiger: Sauce was good, but a little odd for me to eat with steak. Although I can handle a great deal of spice, I did not think the sauce was spicy at all. It doesn't say it in the online menu, but I believe it said spicy in their dine-in menu. Steak was okay, I ordered medium rare which I would say was maybe a little too red in the center. I would say it wasn't far off, but my opinion could be incorrect shrug.
Suggestion to business: Thought about cloth napkins? The regular napkins felt out of place for such a nice atmosphere.
Overall I think this place could be a 5, and we will be trying more menu options to see if it takes us there. Service was great, although I would have liked a little more...
Read moreNot respecting hapy hour pricing:
As you can see on the pictures I'm attaching, the 2 drinks I ordered during happy hour time were supposed to have their price reduced (we were in the lounge area between 5pm and 6pm), but we got charged full price. The reason why I didn't catch it right away is because when we were done eating nobody brought us the check for 40 min, so I went to the front desk to pay it, but they only told me how much I owed without a check, and I only got to see the bill afterward. I realized the mistake while walking to my car, went back inside right away and asked to be refunded the difference, the waiter asked me to fill out a paper with my receipt number and phone number so that he could "process a refund when it's less busy", but he never did. What was also irritating is that he was not believing me that both drinks had happy hour price, despite it being on their menu...
Either way, it's been 2 weeks now and still no refund, hence the bad rating.
Apart from that the food was fantastic, but the drinks were nothing special. Sitting in the lounge area (but not at the bar) got us to be forgotten by the waiters, they were never stopping by to give us water or ask if we wanted anything else.
I'll happily update my review if I get the refund. I know it's only $5 (well technically $6 with tips) but that's...
