Fridas Mexican Cantina is almost like a Kernersville landmark on Hwy 66 and I would say is not because the restaurant is right across the highway.....it is because of its delicious food and warm friendly customer service. They have an excellent menu to cater both vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. I would highly recommend to try one of their margaritas.....BEST IN TOWN. My favorite is the Jalapeño Cucumber margarita. If you order guacamole, someone will bring a small cart to your table and make fresh guacamole right in front of you. Melanie Aguirre is the best server in that restaurant. She listens and takes care of all your requests. She is so attentive that without asking she will get us extra napkins since we hv small kids and extra cups/bowls. Her energy is contagious and always serves you with a smile and positive attitude. This is a dine in restaurant so when you walk in, the host will seat you at the assigned table. Parking can be a pain sometimes and you may have to park a little further out especially during prom nights. A very clean restaurant and furniture are all made in Mexico....so they are ornate and pretty solid.

This is my first time in this restaurant - the impression is good. The location is quite convenient - about 3 minutes from the downtown of Kernersville, the parking is quite ample, although we were there quite late in the evening on Friday, perhaps there are no places at rush hour - I can’t say anything about that. There were almost no people, there was no need to wait for a table. The food arrived quickly. The staff is friendly, they came up several times asking if everything was okay. The food is delicious: we ordered a quesadilla Fajitas, traditional ceviche for an appetizer, and Pollo Loco. The presentation of the ceviche was impressive - very beautifully (although there was no cilantro in it, this adds zest to the dish). The portions are large - be prepared to take the leftovers home, which in general is probably a plus. The atmosphere inside is quite pleasant, clean, I liked the music and the interior is quite adequate - notes of Mexican culture and American comfort. The prices are quite reasonable, price and quality really win! I recommend the place, I think I will come back here again.

My family normally loves getting takeout from Frida's, but we had a not so pleasant experience today. To begin, we were given the wrong order by the hostess. We realized it once we had the order in the car because we always double check. We brought the food back in and the hostess made us feel as though the mix-up was our fault. We gave the order number we were given on the phone when picking up, so I'm not sure how this could be our fault. A woman who appeared to be a manager came out and was very apologetic upon learning our order was given to someone else and offered to remake our food -- this is the only reason I'm not rating this experience with one star. While we waited for the food to be re-made, the hostess continued to tell to another worker that the mix-up was our fault. This is incredibly unprofessional. Once the food was remade we brought it home to find a giant hair in one of our meals. I can assure you that it wasn't anyone in our house's given that we all have much lighter colored hair. I've always loved Frida's, but I don't think we'll be going back any time soon.

First off let me say I'm a woman of color and felt very uncomfortable once I came thru the door and the 2 hosts start immediately speaking in Spanish about where to seat us before even asking, speaking or inquiring about how large our party would be... Pointing at tables right over our heads trying to figure out where we would be seated without even greeting us. Then we sat at the assigned booth and we were watched and stared down and whispered about, as if no one wanted to take our table . BUT we were hungry so we decided to stay, eventually our waiter came out an Asked us what we would like to drink, by this time I was also well ready to order because of how long he had taken but the waiter was not, because he had no pin or paper to take down our orders, but we've already waited at least 15 minutes for his arrival! He left and got our drinks came back and then took our order ,I ordered the fajitas to share with my child and I also was ordering something to-go for my husband. My husband's order came out on a plate as well but I told the waiter that the order was for To-go ! since his food was sitting there I decide to try some it was steak with mushroom red wine sauce (sounds good right) but it was absolutely awful it was full of gristle all covered with red wine sauce that spread all over the plate onto the mashed potatoes I told them that the fajitas good but the steak was not he said that he was going to ask his manager TO SEE WHAT he can do ... ultimately he came back saying that his manager said I ordered it so there's nothing he can do I've gotta pay for it. I told him I won't be paying for it and go get his manager ... The manager never came just walked past and didn't speak hold his head all high like he was right! I was furious!!! BUT stayed calm and told my waiter he can put his ten dollar tip towards that steak if he likes but me personally I will not be paying for a steak that was for one WELL DONE😷 AND I ASK FOR MED-RARE ,AND IS FULL OF GRISTLE AND PLATED ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! So they got back there speaking Spanish again and I waited because I definitely didn't want things to spin like I was walking out on my bill ... He eventually gave me the correct bill 16.99 for my Fajitas Texanas and 1.99 for my daughter's drink.. and 1.89 for some cheese dip that CLEARLY HAD CORN STARCH IN IT (DO NOT ORDER) AND SOMEHOW I STILL WALKED OUT PAYING 32.50 JUST TO GIVE A TIP🤦🏿‍♀️ WHEN I SHOULDN'T HAVE!...

(3.75 stars) Some of the best Mexican eateries are tiny, easily overlooked hole-in-the-wall establishments, and so expecting much from Friday’s – large and prominently visible from 66 – seems counterintuitive. While Fridas may not be the best Mexican restaurant in town, it still acquits itself fairly well.

Having been once previously for take out, my wife and I stopped in most recently for a Cinco de Mayo lunch. We were expecting busy, and it was, but Fridas' staff seemed up to the task. There was no wait for a table, and service was prompt and efficient.

The restaurant is named for the artist Frida Kahlo, and her visage can be found everywhere (sign, menus, wall art, etc.) here. If that isn’t Fridas' calling card, then the margarita menu may be. This, however, is an undue slight to the establishment’s unusually strong taco game. The menu boasts two kinds of fish tacos, three kinds of pork tacos (carnitas, pastor, and pibil), birria, and even de canasta (fried tortillas). There are, of course, plenty of non-taco offerings too, ranging from fajitas/quesadillas/burritos to salads to various chicken/steak/seafood and vegetarian dishes.

We opted for elote, a vegetarian burrito, and tacos de cochinita pibil and were mostly satisfied. The elote came slathered and packed all the right flavors, but it was served chilled rather than hot, a confusing (and slightly disappointing) choice I’ve not seen replicated elsewhere. The burrito was enormous and full of delicious squash. At $8.25 on the lunch menu for what amounts to two meals’ worth, it was a bargain. The tacos (three for $11) were generously filled and quite tasty though absent the expected spiciness. A side of charro beans was top-notch.

All told, Fridas made for a better-than-expected lunch. It may not sway you from your allegiance to another spot, but it shouldn’t be...

I ordered through DoorDash. My fish tacos was missing the chipotle sauce. Basically just got a fried piece of fish inside of a soft shell. A separate box with just cabbage. A little disappointing since it was supposed to be California fish tacos. You must have the sauce to bring it together. I also ordered chicken fajitas and no tortillas came with it. I did get the container of rice, beans and pico but no cheese or any tortillas. A small amount of sour cream was in there. I ordered two Jamaica fresh waters. It was just alright. I probably would had liked the Tamarindo better. I spent 58.07 for two orders of fajitas and a order of California fish tacos and two fresh waters. Missing the sauce and tortillas really had messed up this order. I might try this restaurant again but I’m not sure if I would for delivery. The pictures of the restaurant look pretty from what others had shared. Maybe it’s different actually dining in. I wish you would have mango or tropical fresh waters. Horchata will always be the best signature one but I like more of a fruity filled drink. Jamaica was a little on the sour side but it’s wasn’t too horrible but it could had been better. The fish tacos were awful and nothing California about them at all which was disappointing because I’m from California. I’m not sure what type of fish that was either. Having no sauce at all really messed that dish up. Maybe better luck next time. The chicken and peppers were cooked good. The salsa was ok. I didn’t try the chips. You can’t seem to find anyone who freshly prepares the chips then serves them. I truly was spoiled in California. All the restaurants I’ve been to out there freshly prepares their chips where they come out hot to you instead of sitting around. Too bad I didn’t get any of the fresh cheese to come with my fajitas. Mexican style cheese really...
