We were excited to try this place after seeing some reviews and knowing they had cabbage rolls. We had a variety of plates and we thought it was mediocre overall and pricey for the quality. The establishment is identified as bbq, so we got the bbq chicken. It was just broiled chicken coated with bbq sauce. Eh. Maybe their other bbq selection are actually cooked in a more authentic manner, like smoking. 2. The Texas bbq sandwhich is pulled pork smothered in bbq sauce, which seemed like a different sauce than the chicken. This was good overall, a bit spicier than expected, but fine. 3. The cabbage rolls were good overall, but sometimes past expectations of grandma's can't be fulfilled...unfairly. They were steaming hot, literally, and had a tasty filling. 4. The cabbage rolls were steaming hot, but the other items were lukewarm, borderline cold, when they came out. They were busy; it appeared that the other food must have sat while waiting for the rolls. I noticed this on other dishes while at the counter paying my bill; visible steam pouring from cabbage rolls but not from other plates being carried. 5. Vinegar! I had the vinegar bacon slaw. Good, not great because you could not inhale anywhere near the bite you were taking without your brain trying to jump from your skull. I know, "dude you ordered vinegar slaw," but this was overboard. You could also taste the heavy handed vinegar in the bbq chicken sauce and the extra cabbage with the rolls. 6. Wait staff was nice and attentive, though food was a little slow coming following the salad course. Again, they were busy and were banging away, but the differences in food temps indicates that something was happening in the kitchen to slow service. We almost never let one visit define an establishment, but in this case, the prices will likely...

We stopped in on a Friday night and we're promptly greeted and asked to choose our own table. The decor was quaint with a lot of cute farm animal pictures. Our drinks came out fast and our order taken immediately after. I had been craving fried chicken so I got the 4-piece fried chicken dinner with green beans/ham and mashed potatoes with country gravy and a dinner roll. My partner got their pork tenderloin sandwich and steak fries. Her son chose a cheeseburger and steak fries. I can honestly say the fried chicken was probably the best I've ever had. Incredibly crispy and well seasoned. The green beans were good with nice chunks of ham. The mashed potatoes appeared to be instant with little flavor but the gravy was good. The pork tenderloin sandwich was out of this world. I sampled a bite and couldn't believe the flavor loaded in the pork. Again one of the better tenderloins that I've tasted. The kid said the cheeseburger made it into his top 5 behind a pizza burger that he had on vacation but before McDonald's which shocked both his Mom and I. We ordered desserts to go, 2 apple dumplings and a gingerbread pie. All were really good. We will definitely be going back because I want to sample...

This was the third time ordering from here and will likely be the last.

Each instance they overcooked our steaks. I order a medium-rare sirloin for myself and rare for my wife and I keep getting medium/well-done steaks from them.

The first time I ordered here I got a well-done steak after ordering a medium-rare. I glossed over it as a simple dining/cooking mistake and thought nothing more. Stuff happens.

Second time was another well-done. Okay, sensing a pattern here...

The third and most recent steak was surprisingly medium with some pink in the dead center (see pic); however, as always with eating any sirloin steak cooked longer than medium-rare, the outer edges were like eating a boot.

We most likely won't be back, which is a shame because everyone we know praised the food and recommended this restaurant to us...

Maybe your experience will be different and more pleasurable. If you do order, order your steaks "1-up" (e.g. Order a rare steak if you want a medium-rare, or if you want medium, order medium-rare)

The baked beans and the polite service staff are quite possibly the only saving grace with my three...

Excellent bbq in the north. We are from Florida and Georgia. So we judge bbq seriously. The meal was excellent. I jad the ribs and chicken bbq meal. Their bbq sauce is homemade and very good. It was a sweet red sauce that was not overly sweet where you can't eat more. This meal is NOT a first date meal. You wear that sauce. Haha the steak fries were perfect side, allowing you to soak up the sauce. The baked beans were good, but nothing to make a special trip for. My wife for the cabbage rolls. She had these as a child and they took her back to her mommas kitchen. I've never had them and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of flavor they had. She also got the hot slaw as a side. This vinegar bomb of a side was so good. We laughed at one another as the overpowering vinegar flavor and smell made you involuntarily cough. But man, they were great. I don't even like slaw traditionally.

Every single time that my wife and I have been privleded enough to come to this restuarant the food has been stupendous... I love their broasted chicken.. it's by far and away the best in DAYTON, OH!!! Tonight we added fried shrimp to the mix... I'm glad we did... it was absolutely amazing!!! The only thing that can over shadowed the phenomenal food... is how attentive, knowledabke and kind the employees are to everyone that walks through the door!!! I love coming here!!! Thanks again for another amazing experience!!! 💙 We'll definitly be seeing you soon!!!
