Worst meal and service ever. The menu was so enticing, we couldn't wait to order. We got the crab soup, roast oysters Rockefeller and the crab stuffed portabella mushroom to start. The soup was good, not great. The crab stuffed mushroom was actually wonderful. But the oysters were dusgusting, all you could taste was spinach. For our entrees, our son got the kids hot dog and fries, I got the seafood mixed grill (grilled) and my husband got the sweet chipotle grilled skirt steak. One disappointment after another. The hot dog was apparently good, because our picky 5 year old ate it. The French fries were limp, lifeless and tasteless, and we're not eaten. As for my meal, there wasn't one bit of salt or seasoning used, so it was bland and tasted like the grill. Except for the shrimp, for some reason, they tasted like the nasty minute style rice I was served along side what looked like 2 day old veggies. And for my husband's meal, again, no seasoning and what was called sweet chipotle tasted like spicy green grass served on top of a thin juiceless piece of meat with a scoop of crappy mashed potatoes. On top of that, the waitress only came back to the table once and that was only to check that we got everything. We never saw her again. I had to go outside with my son, because my husband didn't want me to make a scene, while we waited for him to hunt someone down to pay $100 for THE WORST...
Read moreThis is our second visit to the Pilot House! Everything we had was fresh and delicious! The menu is a welcome variety of food styles but we always gravitate to their delicious seafood! Sitting outside in the tiki bar area, over looking the water and beautiful boats just soothes the soul.
Last time I had the Pilot House Harvey Fish Sandwich, which was just perfect and was clear to see why it was a favorite. This time I had the Crunchy Grouper Sandwich, which did not disappoint! My love had the Mahi Rockefeller Sandwich, rich in flavor and she had the salad with a refreshing vinaigrette dressing. She really enjoyed it so much!
We found out from the manager, who frequently walks around chatting with the guests, that if you go to the hostess stand, they will give you some food for the fish. So we sat and fed the Mangrove snapper and Parrot fish. Shortly later, a small Manatee came floating by along with a couple Nurse sharks. It was like being in an aquarium!
Apparently, the new management has been making fun changes adding lighting and other decorative things to add to the experience. This truly is a hidden gem so don't miss it! It is one of those places that if living here, I would be there...
Read moreAll I can say is WOW HOW AWFUL!!! First off, the waitress didn't bring us the correct drinks, my son ordered a sprite & my husband ordered a hurricane, she brought a shirley temple & a rum runner. The hurricane my husband ordered was so sour & tasted horrible. The conch fritters were overcooked, the nachos were swimming in soupy cheese, the carnitas bowl was cold, the Harvey fish sandwich was flavorless & I have never had ranch that tasted like that. I ordered another rum runner, she brought a strawberry daiquiri. I took it up to the bar, the bartender who wasn't busy ignored me, then proceeded to tell me he wasn't my waiter but he'll fix it. He made a drink that wasn't even frozen & it tasted like cherry cough syrup. The manager wouldn't take off the hurricane that my husband sent back & could care less that the meal was awful. He had an attitude & wanted to argue with me about the bad frozen drinks. Do yourself a favor & avoid this place at all costs! There are plenty of better restaurants...
