Dirty. Unprofessional. Completely rude at this point and full of LIES. We stayed the day and night of 7/11 & left by 11am on 7/12/25. My gf was promised a full refund on 7/14/25 due to the unprofessionalism, wrong room, and the state of the room.
now let me explain to you why we were Promised this refund that we have yet to Receive. We arrive to Key Largo at around 8 AM. The check-in time was 3 PM but since we arrived early we figured we would just check with the front desk to see if our room was ready. The room that we booked was a KING BED OCEAN SIDE VIEW. Let’s keep this in mind. when we arrive to the front desk and asked if our room was ready, we are automatically graded with a nasty attitude and told “absolutely not no way”. Before my girlfriend could even say a word, I looked at the woman in shock. She proceeded to change her tone and say that she could take our number down and the earliest our room could be available was 12:30 PM. Great. We left our number and told her would go explore and look forward to her call.
We decided to go get lunch and then visit Theater or the Seas. Awesome experience. Time is going by and we don’t receive any calls from Bayside. Our phone connection was fine as we were able to receive other calls the entire time. We arrive to the hotel around 3PM and head to the front desk. The same woman at the front says “Where have you been? I called you twice to say your room is ready” We were shocked. We showed her our call log that did not have any missed calls and even checked to ensure the phone number was correct. Most businesses leave a voicemail. This one did not, but okay cool. It’s fine. We get our room key and head to the room.
First read flag, it’s on the first floor and facing the parking lot. We walk in and immediately my gf shakes her head. This isn’t what she booked. Instead of a KING BED and OCEAN side view, we got two double beds and a view of mulch and trees. We put our bags down and turn right back around, heading to the check in building yet again to figure out if there was a mistake. You would think that this would be an easy fix. wrong room, make a change, and send us on our way? NOPE.
Instead we are told that the room we booked in advance on THEIR bayside website, NOT a third party site, was not available because THEY overbooked. She proceeds to tell us that we were lucky because we got the very last room available. Lucky, huh? Okay. We are offered a $25 room fee refund and a shrug. We head back to the room and try to make the best of it.
Well i guess this was the very last room and maybe even a room that hasn’t been used in a while because the lamps, clock & phone were not plugged in. The odor was as if the room has not been opened in months. The water pressure was disappointing from the sink and shower. The bed was hard as a rock. Maybe the last room doesn’t get good beds or cleaning? The rug looked like someone has vomited on it or urinated and they forgot to clean it. There was red liquid stains splashed on the baseboards. The floor was so dirty that my sock had turned black underneath after being in there for only a couple minutes. The towel holder was so rusty that the orange stains of rust had gotten on the white towels. The sheet explaining things about the hotel was dirty and apparently “outdated” as the lady at the front had told another guest who was complaining about its inaccuracy. The list goes on. There were multiple mosquitoes in the room feasting on us as if it was THEIR home. The AC which was broken and rusty sounded like we were in a loud factory ALL NIGHT LONG. The sheets were dirty, we slept on top and didn’t pull anything back.
Our $25 refund never came through over four days later. We call again and explain our frustration. The manager offers us her condolences and a FULL refund of $260 on July 14th.
Here we are on JULY 20th. 6 Days later. No refund and...
Read moreExcellent customer service and location! Terrible beds though.
The service and location are truly wonderful. The grounds and beach amenities are fantastic too. Settled right next to Snooks, where you get a 10% discount for staying at the inn, the atmosphere between the hotel, beaches, piers, and restaurant are just so relaxing and beautiful. Good for swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding - all equipment offered free of charge through the motel. The food at snooks was also so delicious and bartenders were so great so we didnt need to worry about traveling for all the different meals. Also, the main office coffee/tea machine is a hit. Excellent and unexpected! The room showers are also brand new and very clean! Super happy with that!
The rest of the rooms however... they were "recently updated" which probably isnt a lie, but don't expect fancy upgrades. It was honestly just as we expected for the money paid which was just fine for us. Not awful, but not super nice, just fine as most of your time is spent outside anyway.
The bed was by far the biggest problem and had we been able to cancel while already into our stay, we probably would have for the sheer discomfort of the absolute rock hard bed. I still cant believe how uncomfortable it was despite rooms having been recently updated. They have got to fix that for us to prbly ever stay again.
The air conditioner leaked pretty bad too as did the floor. The new LVP they had laid down for flooring somehow leaked constantly, perhaps from condensation from the air conditioner under the floor boards? So it got a little slick and our socks got wet often. The leaky air conditioner created a large, constant puddle next to the bed.
Our room keys also quit working a few times while there, which may be just a one time fluke of bad luck, but the management still got us in our rooms with master keys and were eventually able to reprogram our doors. So it wasnt a big issue ad they remedied it as quickly as they could, no worries. Again, testament to good staff.
We brought up the bed and air conditioner issues to the front desk and they were very accommodating and although we couldn't cancel for a refund at that point, they offered and brought up a bunch of extra pillows and blankets which we made a 2nd bed on top of the bed with to make sleeping there at least a little more tolerable. They also sent someone up to fix the air conditioner right away, but unfortunately it didnt last. I'm guessing the tropical humidity is just hard to deal with anywhere in the keys. They offered to switch our rooms and we declined thinking the problems had been fixed. They comped the resort fee the 1st night to help compensate for our discomfort.
Again, all the staff were beyond pleasant and accommodating and made everything as right as they could. I really cannot say enough good things about the staff!
So staff, location, amenities, and price point make this inn worth the value for sure. But sweet Jesus, the beds are just the absolute worst! So, if you are a troubled sleeper to begin with, you may want to reconsider or bring a travel bed/hammock to...
Read moreWe booked our room at Bayside Inn Key Largo thru Booking.com. We had to pay up front. We were supposed to have 2 beds, all the amenities plus a private pool and a view of the Premier Island water view. After we were checked in by a lady who's name we didnt catch, another lady by the name of Sharon or Shari took us to a first floor room by the parking lot with NO private pool and NO view of Premier Island. Our view was of an oil tank or gas tank in some weeds in the back parking lot about 10 feet from our window!! Really?? Shari said this was the room we would have, and the room we paid for was already taken and that they only have 3 of those type of rooms, and they are always booked up by "regulars." So we were out of luck! We were crushed! Why did they even advertise them? They don't allow cancellations, and we didn't want to lose our money for a 2 night stay. I couldn't believe we had a Bait and Switch scam played on us. We didn't know what to do. This was not right. However, Shari remembered there was a 2-bed room on the 3rd floor that had basically the same view but showed more of the tops of the trees instead of the gas tank. She urged us to at least look at it. We looked, and it wasn't as bad as the other one, and we didn't want to drive all the way home or lose our entire payment, so we accepted. I wasn't pleased that we paid for a private pool and water view and had to settle for this average room. I could see that Shari was uncomfortable about what happened. She helped us bring up all our suitcases and was a very nice lady. I dont think she was at fault in this situation. I would like to know who was, though.
Our room in 316 was clean and seemed a bit larger than the 1st floor one. The view was of tree branches with pretty green leaves, and we saw the gas tank below us and the parked cars. As long as we didn't look down, it was ok. We had a desk, dresser drawers, a fridge, a safe, a microwave, coffee maker, ironing board and iron, a roomy closet, and a private shower/toilet with door. The sink was next to the entry. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Everything worked fine.
The swimming pool in the back could use updating and was only 3 ft deep even though in the middle it said 4 ft. I knew it wasn't 4 ft because I am 5'6", and it came to my waist. It's not cold when you get in. There were chaise lounges available with small tables.
The private beach area is small but very nice. There were paddle boards and kayaks available. People were swimming and sunbathing.
Next door was Snook's restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there was a shortcut to it near the pool. Great food and ambiance at Snook's.
If we didn't have the fiasco that we experienced, then I might have given 3.5- 4 stars. Bayside does take good care of the rooms, and Shari was outstanding with her...
