First off, I'm so happy this place opened. I was excited to try since my husband and I are both from Hawai'i. Automatic arrived and was greeted with ALOHA and explained the menu was on the counter and either she could take our order or we could order from 1 of the 2 kiosks.
I decided to go with the lau lau plate, and my husband chose the 2 meat plate with chicken katsu and teriyaki steak. First off, presentation wise, it looked so good. But sadly, the flavor was not really there, and the pork in the lau lau was overcooked! Dry and tough. The Mac salad needed some flavor. The chicken katsu was not crispy, and the Teri steak was tough. We ordered banana lumpia and was pretty good but very greasy.
I know this location just opened, but for our first time, it was not a good impression for back home cuisine.
We both agreed we are going to check out the Harker Heights location to see if maybe it's just the cooks. And return again to Killeen location to give a second chance.
Customer service from cashier to the ladies where we picked up our food was all ALOHA, which was welcomed.
The decor and wall mural were very nice. But maybe the seating layout needs to be changed. The walkway is like one person at a time to get thru. One tv was on but no sound. But the girl was kind enough to turn up the volume so we don't hear the kitchen. And there are 2 restrooms in the back. Store front parking and...

I placed an online order for curbside pickup at 6:31 PM. The automated text confirmed a pickup time of 6:52 PM, but upon arrival I had to call the number provided. The employee who answered showed no sense of customer service and bluntly explained that due to a system lag, my order wasn’t ready. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes and walking inside the restaurant, and my food was finally ready at 7:20 PM.
When I opened the order, the disappointment continued (see attached photo). The loco moco had no gravy and the meat was dry, the katsu was oily and served without cabbage, katsu sauce is a thickened soy sauce, the macaroni salad tasted days old, and the rice scoops were very small. Overall, both the food quality and the service were far below expectations.
Placed an online order that advertised $5 off, but the discount wasn’t honored.
If you’re looking for Hawaiian style plates, I strongly recommend Koko Kafe first, followed by L&L BBQ. This spot, unfortunately, needs serious improvement before I’d ever...
Read moreCame here for the first time with my friends and family. We ordered the mini teri beef plate, 3 meat plate (bbq chicken and double Portuguese sausage), side of poke, spam musubi, and butter mochi. All the food was flavorful except for the banana lumpia. It wasn’t sweet and it was super mushy and soggy. My double order of Portuguese sausage was a half sausage butterfly split and the musubi was wrapped in foil and fell apart pretty easily. The poke was flavorful, but honestly, just mushy. Being from Hawaii, it was ok compared to home. As much as I'd like to show a lot of love to this restaurant, the food was just ok. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food we got.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The parking lot is small, but there is also street parking. The Hawaii themed ambiance always gives a comfortable feeling. Lots of tables and chairs and...
