If there was one thing that I missed since I stopped working on Fort Hood/Fort Cavazos, it's this little mediterranean place tucked in between the military clothing and sales and the barber shop behind the bank. Now they're off post and easier to get to. I'm not ashamed to say that I could get the same thing every single time and I probably do. More than probably. I got the doner wrap combo with all the meats... chicken, beef, and lamb and I didn't pick any of the vegetables off either because I've matured a bit. I didn't even notice that they charged extra for the cheese until someone else mentioned. That was a whole dollar though so just be prepared for that. It was probably just under $20 all together with fries, a fountain drink in a cute little cup with a coffee cup lid, the feta cheese, and backlava. I don't know if I would have liked it more on a traditional pita. If this wasn't a tortilla, it might have been the thinnest pita wrap I've ever seen. It wasn't too messy either. I think that I only had to wipe sauce from my face once. The spicy tatziki sauce tasted really good. It was just a little thin. The fries were super plain and still better than most. They probably could have used some salt and I'm sure there were salts packets and ketchup nearby. It was all delicious. They added a lamb shank dinner to the menu with other new items to be announced weekly on Facebook so I'll be checking that stuff out...

Three of us recently stopped in to try it out, and we were generally impressed. The cashier immediately greeted us and was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is spacious and very clean, and the staff were accommodating.
My fellow food explorers ordered the doner wrap combos with fries and a drink, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Keeping it low-carb as usual, I opted for the salad, adding the beef & lamb and feta cheese. The salad itself was a satisfying portion with a decent mix of lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, a pepperoncini, plenty of red onion (which I appreciated, but you may not!) all dressed with tzatziki.
My only complaint, and the reason for the 4 stars (4.5 if I could), is that they laid the tzatziki on thick. I know, I know, who complains about too much sauce? While tasty, it heavily masked the flavors of everything else, especially the beef & lamb.
The salad was $7.50, and the added beef & lamb was $4.50, with a $1.00 upcharge for the feta, bringing my total to $13.00 plus tax. Just a heads up, the feta is not included in the salad or wraps, despite what I thought. The combos were $13.50 ($14.50 with the feta addition) plus tax.
Overall, it was a positive experience and I'd recommend giving Cafe...
Read moreI've traveled around the world, and some of the best food that I have tried is Turkish. I'm happy that we finally have an authentic one in the Killeen area, and also glad that the flavors from abroad have been brought here. We ordered the Adana Kebab and the Doner plate. The food at Baklava Cafe was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Everything was flavorful and delicious. They also provide you with a good portion of food to ensure that you don't stay hungry. The customer service is phenomenal; the owner and workers were courteous, helpful, and welcoming when I went to pick up my order. They have a good selection of items on their menu, and I'm excited to come back and try some others. If you're looking for delicious Mediterranean food in Killeen, definitely...
