I tried their lunch buffet. Chicken based dishes, vegetable dishes, teas, noodle, steamed and fried rice were available. They were mild and flavorful. For those wanting more flavor there, was mint, chili and tamarind sauces available at the condiment table. A fresh plate of hot naan is provided to each table with the meal. I'm not a big fan of vegetables, but I enjoyed their fried cauliflower (gobi pakora) and the creamy vegetables in the spiced coconut milk (vegetable korma). They had a small dessert bar with some fresh fruits and ball shaped indian dessert (Gulab Jamun), but I was too full to try lol. The price was reasonable. The buffet provided lots of delicious options without being overwhelming. Food was always fresh as they continuously added small batches of fresh food to the line instead of cooking large batches and letting them dry out on the line. The are only two downsides. The restaurant doesn't have a ramp for wheelchair access, and the menu font is so tiny, it was hard to read even with my 20/20 vision. The restaurant setting is not too crowded, and the layout makes it easy to get food from the buffet table. I want to go back for the buffet for sure, and for...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place and tried it a second time and had the same experience plus my husband who picked up the food stated the gentlemen at the front was unprofessional and short with him. I ordered the chicken tikka masala twice and this is just not authentic. I have made homemade chicken tikka masala plus had a favorite authentic spot back home that I went to every Friday. It tastes like the canned tikka masala you buy at the store, the chicken is not cooked in the sauce but grilled (dry and hard chicken) and cubed, thrown in some canned sauce but the basmati rice is on point. I will add Indian dishes are complicated and it takes a lot of work to have an Indian food made fast food so I understand but there are some serious mistakes which just seems americanized, bland, watery, and wrong color. Not worth the $20 for a dish when I can go buy Patak's tikka masala from Walmart for cheaper. I'm paying for authentic not canned. Suggestion: make garlic butter to brush on the Naan instead of cooking with garlic on the bread this causes the...
Read moreHaving moved to this area from Houston, we had really missed having a good Indian food buffet around. We were glad to see that Taj in Killeen had a buffet, and visited it a couple months ago. We liked it the first time and that's the reason I gave it two stars instead of just one. However, the second time we went recently we were really disappointed. Food had gone downhill in just a short time in taste and quality. There wasn't a good selection of items on the buffet. All the chicken dishes were dark meat only, but at least one of them should have been white meat, in my opinion. Many dishes tasted the same as others.
Also, service was lacking - no one brought us naan, and we had to ask for it. Not once did anyone come around to refill our drinks either.
I hope the owner / manager reads this and makes sure improvements are made to food and service. Having just one bad experience is enough to make us never go to a restaurant again.
I'll close with a compliment on the decor - it was new...
