Usually, I don't review restaurants but I feel that this is necessary.
Service: Mostly everything within the establishment is self-serve; You get your own fountain drinks and plate your own food, typical for a buffet. To my knowledge, there were only two staff members I've seen working; there was a lady at the front and a man taking our plates. I'll admit, since I didn't see any other staff members, I believe these two were working the best they could and I respect them for it. Good job! And they seemed friendly and quiet for the most part, very appreciated.
Atmosphere: It has been two years since my family and I haved dined within this establishment. We stopped coming here due to COVID-19 and my father and I kept getting sick. Yesterday for my birthday, we enter the buffet and the atmosphere was pretty dead, chilling even for the month of Halloween's sake. Tables were empty, the televisions displayed a show about police (which, I don't think would be something I'd watch when eating – because it displayed a cop handling a puking drunk) and the music wouldn't be my choice to sit through if I were there for just a quick filling dinner. Other than that, our table we chose was clean, the dishes we grabbed were clean and that did excite us.
Food: My family and I found our table and then went to get our plates of food. Looking around the various cuisines to choose from, I was anxious to use the tongs because I feel like customers may have been using the wrong tongs for their designated foods which more than likely could lead to cross contamination. It's unfortunate, but I had to use the tongs and spoons provided to gather my meal and deal with it. Aware that it's a buffet, the food is meant to last so long while being hot held until it's time to rotate them with a fresh batch... Getting the short end of the stick, we did not receive a fresh meal and with the lack of customers, most the containers of food were full and untouched. Pretty unfortunate. My younger siblings could not finish their plates and resulted to something sweeter to eat and soft (e.g. the jellow and soft serve); though, the soft serve machine seemed to be half functional and possibly have not been cleaned properly for quite some time, but it's only a wild guess as I'm only a customer. And shortly after, my siblings were content with what they got, but I wouldn't say they were pleased. My parents tried eating lighter compared to me; they went for meaty foods and vegetables but my mother could not finish her plate either. (Since I was not told their thoughts, I apologise if that doesn't help). Though – when I ate – I'd say, the food weren't warm and they seemed dry. It came clear that the food been sitting out longer than welcomed. We were unsatisfied by our meals, even the sushi seemed a little on the rough end. Here's the worst part, once getting home, three out of the five of us felt ill. I'm not sure on the severity between my father, my younger brother and I, but I was locked within the restroom for quite some time – in fact, I had to wake up only to spill my guts. My brother was lucky to go through what I did, but we definitely had something up with our stomachs.
If you want to dine at this buffet, it is entirely your choice but I'd recommend going to Little Tokyo Hibachi or just stay home. I'm sorry if this review isn't the best but I had to say something...
Read moreOk, I am usually the type to give the business the benefit of the doubt if things aren't great-maybe they had a bad night...BUT what I experienced was sub par in many facets.
Here are the positives: plenty of parking, plenty of seating, nice and clean tables and chairs to choose from, plenty of choices available on the buffet line, and they eventually got the soft serve ice milk working.
Here are the not so good things that need work: why do I have to pay and tip even before getting seated? I've eaten at a lot of Asian buffets, they need to stop serving sushi or bring in someone to do it right. I tried every blend they offered, all had rice that was dried out, hard and crunchy- maybe it was made for the lunch rush and wasn't covered all the way through dinner? I've never had tuna fish salad, yes with mayo and relish inside a sushi roll before- it was nasty. None of the sushi was what I would call good.
The fried fish was cooked well but cold on the buffet line. Next to it was the fried shrimp which were marginally better. The sesame, sweet and sour chicken had good flavor but was tough from too much time under the heat.
The hibachi grill was nice but several selections of the pork, chicken and beef were fairly oxidized and the color had blanched. I know they are trying to demonstrate they had volume but I would have preferred freshness.
Our waitress was nice, attentive when it came to collecting plates but not with drink refills. Funny thing, they have signs that drinks are self serve but, they don't want you going back there to get a refill.
There's more to harp on but I've said enough. Maybe this is a much better option say like for lunch when food is flying out but dinner at...
Read moreI went here earlier today and the manager was so rude she came to our table and said really loud that if we were eating Seafood we needed to pay more for our buffet since the lunch special ended and also Seafood is so expensive. I had no problem paying more; I just had a problem with the way she said it. I did go speak with her afterwards away from everyone else since I didn't want to make a scene. She really thinks that she owns the place since she mentioned to me that she has been working there for 10 years. I have only seen her twice and I am a regular; well I was a regular. I think that she wanted to make a scene so other people could know that if they too didn't pay the full price; they better do so. Who knows maybe she is not just a manager; but, the owner too. Anyways, if there is another person above her, then they should strongly reconsider: how good is it for them to have a manager that prefers to run customers away instead of working out things nicely with them. I even spoke with the cashier and she said that she couldn't do anything and to speak only with the person that was rude and yelling ( the waitress/ manager). What a horrible way to treat your customers. We had the worst dinning experience ever. I think that as a manager you should manage the situation a little bit better and be some what discrete. She even told me that if we decided to stop coming that was fine with her. She is not only a manager, but she is also a waitress, and a busboy. I don't know maybe she was overwhelmed by being there by herself doing everything for all the tables of the left side of the restaurant, and perhaps she needs some more help. Nevertheless, she was definitely...
