True Texas BBQ — Restaurant in Killeen

We always go to HEB BBQ when family comes to town and get take out with all the meats and sides and it is always so good so I didn't think twice when I had a work event to cater I immediately started looking at the party packs and we had one vegetarian innthe group so the baked potato bar was perfect and all the others were meat eaters so the party pack was great for them. It was easy to place the order and the process. So you are thinking why only 4 stars well the day I went to pick it up I always arrive a little but early in case there is an issue we'll let's just say I am glad I did because my order had not even been started to put together. It's okay this is why I allow myself extra time and they were very nice and offered me a free drink while I waited. So once my order was together they bagged it up and off back to work ..... made it just in time to set it all up before the scheduled lunch break. Once I leave the room my boss messages me and is like "where is the sauce?" ...... OH NO it wasn't in any of the bags. So OFF I run back to HEB to ask about the sauce meanwhile people are already eating and or waiting. After I rush back the 2 containers of sauce are sitting on the counter and they said "oh I was wondering if you would come back to get these!" YES everyone was asking I had no choice but to rush back and then rush back to campus. It just made a very hectic day even more chaotic and stressful since this was a big work event. Don't get me wrong the BBQ was amazing but if the order was not left in the binder and rushed to be put together maybe the sauce would not have been forgotten to be put in my bag. Just remember these big orders are always alot on the single person that has to pull it...

I’m highly disappointed with this restaurant.... my family and I went in to eat after my wife got out of work at 8pm now I understand that it was a little later on at night but if you’re going to have your business open until 9pm then you should be prepared to feed people the food you offer until you close. I went in and waited in line with three small children I got to the cash register and was informed that they were out of lean brisket, fatty brisket, chicken, mac, and various other items.... how disappointing that they are open but expect you to just eat turkey and sausage. Though this may seem trivial I find it as a big problem that if you’re going to be open then you should be able to produce what you advertise to the public one item is understandable but not most of the menu at this point I’m convinced that they aren’t concerned with pleasing the customer as much as they are with saving money this was my first time here and my family of 5 left without any food and hungry we most likely will never return or recommend anyone we know to go.... if you’re open until 9pm then you should be able to feed the menu until 9pm some people work late and can’t get there before 7pm or whenever they decide they’ve cooked enough meat for the day if you can’t be properly stocked to serve customers until closing time then maybe you should just change your hours to close earlier! Not satisfied...

I usually don't leave reviews, but my first experience at True Texas Bbq was very disappointing and frustrating. I had a very important medical appointment coming up today, monday morning, and therefore didn't want to cook after shopping for groceries for a long time yesterday. We ordered 1 lbs of turkey breast and a 1 meat meal plate to go. It took very long to get our order despite the fact that we were the only ones in line. I gave up looking at my watch after 25 minutes. Once we got our food, we headed home. Once we opened the bag I could immediately tell that the turkey did not weigh 1 lbs as it felt lighter. I looked for my food scale and noticed it was short. I rather give customers a tad more than shorten them. The meal plate also had a $3 upcharge for burn ends which is what we picked since they were out of brisket. Unfortunately, there were only 3 small pieces of meat, which 2 of were full of fat. I know that burn ends have fatty meat, but there was zero meat on them. I threw eveything away. It was nasty, greasy and literally pure fat. The beans looked like a mushy soup. Definitely not a side dish or beans, more like a stew soup. Way too liquidy. We paid $40 and feel like we were completely ripped off. I am attaching pictures for...
