BEWARE of this place. Very enticing, great band. Bartender eats behind the bar breaking all kinds of health codes (no hand washing between bites of food and serving beverages) A fly flew into my glass as I was taking a drink. It touched my lips and then slipped down the glass. We asked for a new glass as I had only drank half of that 4 oz taster cup. While we received the new glass, it was after the bartender said that the dead fly was on the outside of the glass. (Um, gross).
Except for the fly, we enjoyed the tasting until we had to call 911. The bartender's friend (self proclaimed by the bartender at the end of this debacle, while at the beginning, the bartender said that she didn't know who that person was) caused a huge distraction next to us. She broke glass that wasn't from our table, so she must have brought it with her (as we were sitting in the corner away from the other tables).
Anyway, this friend of the bartender must have taken my purse. Jim Mills saw it hit the floor and asked me if I had my purse. I didn't. He went out back to see if he could find this person.
People found her. Next thing we know after calling 911, this attempted thief brought the balloons back. After the police came, my purse miraculously appeared on another table (which must have been dropped off with the second balloon distraction).
The police came and since the bartender kept saying that nothing was stolen, they disappointed us with what felt like a lack of follow through. The Kingman Police Department needs to retrain the female officer. She was rude and combative. Protect and serve wasn't the mood, for sure. (We were asked to leave the bar by the bartender. (I guess calling the police and reporting a crime is undesirable).
What a disappointment that such a con disappointed our evening. We were literally discussing future trips here to try their hops. The customer service from the gas station Uber driver, and waitress at Grand Canyon Brewery do not reflect this rude and abusive behavior. Those three exceptions could and possibly should be employed by the Kingman Chamber of Commerce. They were over the top with personally and service.
Gratefully, I seem to have my belongings back and a nice bystander prayed with us.
But, buyers beware. I would avoid Black Bridge Brewery...
Read moreBlack Bridge is the greatest addition to Kingman, especially downtown in recent memory, if not ever. I have longed for the day fresh homegrown beer poured forth in my hometown. That day has come and surpassed any of my expectations.
I made the trip up from Phoenix a week after opening and had the pleasure of enjoying the six offerings available. They ranged from a flavorful English (not so) bitter which my father, an avid light beer drinker enjoyed quite well, as did I - all the way to a rare wheat wine coming in at 10.5% ABV along with a Barleywine flirting with 11%. In between were offerings of a refreshing wheat in traditional or raspberry form, which my mother enjoyed a couple of, along with a Cascadian IPA that was my personal favorite and the Locomotive Stout which was the perfect finish. Each beer departed from others I've had of a similar style, offering their own unique taste and complexity.
Whether you live in town, find yourself traveling through or have never been you'll want to add Black Bridge to your list of...
Read moreWhat a great experience. I was passing through from Colorado to California and stopped in for a beer while I worked on a paper. Right as I opened the door I felt welcome. The bartender came right over and told me how it worked. She told me to look over the menu and order when I was ready. I asked about using my laptop, and she was super friendly. She told me where the outlets were and where I could sit. She was all smiles and very helpful. After sitting down the I started to take in the atmosphere. It was classic brewery. For old town Kingsman, AZ I thought it was wonderful. Everyone that came in after me was greeted warmly with an old bar feel. What I thought was the coolest was that you could order BBQ from across the street and they would bring it in to you. Two people did that while I was there. If you're ever in town, hit this place up. Highly...
