Went in very hopeful. Kind of smelled bad when we walked in, but we blew that off. Drinks were good pours, decent Bloody Mary. From that point on, terrible. Tiny portions of hash browns. Mine were undercooked, his were overcooked and dry. Hollandaise Sauce was sour, his gravy tasted like sour milk and powder. His omelette was very small compared to ANY we have ever seen.
The service started out nice. Then our food was served, I started to ask for butter and forks, but before I could ever get the word butter out of my mouth, she informed us that she had floor work to take care of and would be back. I eventually flagged down the hostess for butter and forks. We never did get waters or a check up about our food from the original server. A floor manager came by and asked how the food was. I was unable to eat my awful Eggs Benedict, so I had pushed it away. Tried a bite of husband's biscuits and gravy, awful. I let her know that it was possible the milk had turned? She took the food to the back and came back to inform us that it was fine. She also went to check with "other customers". They said it was delicious. Finally, the original server came back, seeming flustered about our experience. I told her the drinks were good, pancake was great, and asked for the check. She then apologized about having a busy floor. I served many years and my daughter serves at some of the most elite restaurants in AZ. She obviously needed more support from the floor manager. I felt bad for her.
After a 70 dollar bill, we left and wouldn't come back if they paid us to do so. Too bad because we eat out a lot and are very easy to please. We would have been there more than weekly if it had...
Read moreAs it was the Prime Rib Special night we decided to eat at Calicos, pleased to see it reopened. We were seated quickly ... But it went downhill from there. Our three orders were each served to the wrong person - okay, not an atrocious error but annoying that the waitress hadn't taken sufficient notice - and two of the sodas were wrong. One of our party requested mayonnaise, she was given ranch and we had to ask twice for this to be rectified. But two of our prime ribs were cold. Not lukewarm but cold. Our waitress, when we got her attention, said she would bring plates for our sides and return the prime ribs to the kitchen. This didn't happen. Eventually two plates turned up via another member of the wait staff, but a member of our party had to get up and take the two prime ribs to the kitchen. Then I was asked if it was okay just to grill mine again. No. I ordered a rare prime rib, that was what I wanted. Finally two warmer prime ribs turned up by which time we'd finished our sides and the third member of our party had finished her meal. The waitress brought the check at the same time. No asking if we wanted dessert. No refilling of my empty soda glass. It's a dangerous thing to presume. The wait staff appear to have assumed that, because of our English accents, we were tourists and so (a) wouldn't complain and (b) didn't need to be impressed. Wrong. We live in the Kingman area and have done probably since before the...
Read moreAfter a rough day dealing with a broke down car and getting towed in to the motel 6. I luckily got to catch them before closing, I phoned in a prime rib sandwich picked it up 10 min later and headed back to my room. , Fries were crisp, and verry liberal slab of meat. And a large cup of au jus. Very tender and best diner I've had at a restaurant in a long time thank you
Went in the following morning and ordered a Full order of Biscuits and Gravy. And to my surprise they put the gravy in a cup. So that it doesn't get soggy, (nice touch because it only compliments the following). Also when I open the Togo box inside I see 2 of the largest biscuits I've seen since my mothers restaurant and they were fluffy and moist. You can tell that they were made verry recently (I'm not sure if they make em every morning or if they have them in a stent for holding, but most prep them and just ZAP them for 15 seconds before smothering them in gravy. ). Also included were butter packets and jelly. For those who want to add a touch to there morning, I highly recommend the FUL B&G. AND IT WAS ONLY 10$. KUDOS TO the team at Calico's.
From my 2 visits seems like you are on a great path , and the service was on point ,...
