Blackwood's Drive-in restaurant is an awesome place to eat. I am a regular customer and my entire family always looks forward to going there. This restaurant is NOT a fast food place. I am stating this specifically because I want to draw attention to the fact that they cook to order, which means there are no patties drying out under lights, no bread getting cold and stale for hours before you order it. They make everything fresh in house which means there are no barrels of processed generic slaw or chili that has been shipped in from across the country to be used on your hot dogs, burgers, etc. The people that work there truly take pride in the food they prepare for their customers.
I want people to understand the level of quality and effort that goes into Blackwood's food because it takes a little more time to make things that have fresh ingredients. Everything is made precisely just for you and is not a cookie-cutter version just to get your money as fast as possible with no regard to what is being given out.
If you have never gone to Blackwood's, you have been sorely cheated out of a magnificent experience. The servers are kind, patient, and attentive.
Although this restaurant is amazing just because of the higher level of quality, this particular review was inspired by the lovely server who waited on my mother and I today. I asked her permission to mention her in this review.
The lady of whom I speak, is named Cory. She has waited on us numerous times and has always given stellar customer service without fail as have all other servers we have had before, however, there was one simple thing she did that touched my mother and I which she did not have to do.
My order was simple today. I asked for one container of slaw and one of chili. She knew all of the sizes by heart and recited them to me. When I asked for the chili, she took the time to tell me it might come to me cold. I told her that was fine because I would be making hot dogs at home and had no problem warming it up. When she walked away, I thought about how considerate this small gesture of concern was for me and my family. It seems like such a small thing but in this day and time of total disregard for each other, it moved us greatly that she thought enough of us to make sure we knew this information. She could have just brought it to us without so much as a word of the condition it would be in and think nothing else about it since we would not have even opened it until we got home. Why would Cory have cared about whether we had to heat it up or not? Even if we had called back and complained that the chili was cold, she could have merely stated that we had not asked about it and that would have been the end of that. The fact that she took the time to inform us not only speaks volumes as to the level of integrity of the people that work at Blackwood's but even more so to her personal level of care and thoughtfulness toward her customers even after they have gone and there is no immediate repercussion to worry about. I am blown away by her exquisite level of customer service! Cory is truly amazing at what she does and I can't wait to see her and enjoy the high quality food from Blackwood's Drive-in again. Thank you for caring about my...
Read moreUPDATE.. I quickly made this my go to page for s fast bite and thought it was great. However, recently I've gone and they cut portions back to a few fries and the meat on the burger was thin and the flavor was not good quality. I know everything is going up including their process but price up and quality down isn't a good combo. Unfortunately i won't go back after my last 2 visits.
The food was very good. With generous portions. I think 4 bucks for a medium drink with tax is astronomical, but the cheeseburger was very fairly priced and tasted great. The place definitely looks run down, but the food is worth it! I feel feeling oinky and the smaller burger with fries filled me up with some leftover. The staff was so nice and did not miss a single thing on my order. Brought me enough ketchup and salt so I didn't have to ask twice. It was a good experience. Though I am still salty about the beverage prices... it's crazy when a CHEESEburger is less than a cup of tea. 😆 overall I'll look for this place every time I come back to town and I'll bring my own drink. It's...
Read moreI had never been to Kings Mountain before but my job had me there for a few days. I was driving through around lunch when I saw cars lined up in the street trying to get to Blackwoods Drive-in. Every parking space at the drive-in was filled. I knew I had to try a place this popular. I made it back about an hour later and thought still busy I was able to park.
The menu is extensive as you can see in the photos but I love a good cheeseburger so that is what I had the first day. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had and the fries and cherry lemon Sundrop just added to the perfection. The meal and great service were so good I drove 20 minutes out of my way to go back the next day. I had to have another burger but this time I also ordered a hotdog. It too was excellent.
If near Kings Mountain find Blackwoods Drive-in and you won't be disappointed. Like I said it was so enjoyable I went back for a second visit while in...
