Some friends and I spent an afternoon in Kingston recently and this small café was the highlight for me. First of all, my hot chocolate was the perfect temperature so that it warmed me up without burning my tongue- I'm so used to other places serving it so hot that I have to just let it sit for a few minutes, so I was pleasantly surprised here. They also added just enough whipped cream to compliment the flavor without overpowering it. Again, so many restaurants and cafes miss the mark on this.
Second of all, the woman running the shop showed me and my friends so much hospitality that I felt compelled to write this review in the first place. She let us order custom flavors in our drinks, and while we waited she took us outside to a porch and turned on the fireplace for us (it was really cold outside). It's a small gesture, but it made me feel so welcome. Even after we finished our drinks my friends and I sat around for a while because it was such a nice, cozy environment.
If you're ever in Kingston and need to sit down for a minute and drink some amazing hot beverages, then I'd recommend this place in...
Read moreThe shop is absolutely adorable. The immediate feeling when walking into the shop is pride and joy. The barista was so lovely, easy to talk to, and fun. They had so much pride in their partner who owns the company and the amount of love that showed was inspirational. I ordered the frappe, I didn’t have any added sweetners other than some brown sugar the barista recommended for texture. The flavor was rich and smooth, if you are a true coffee lover then you are going to love their coffee. The straws are a little small for the larger cups but that’s okay! My boyfriend ordered the Rainbow Road, this drink is based on a video game (I’m assuming Mario Kart as it was always my favorite map) it’s a sweet and slightly carbonated drink with a very refreshing flavor. If you aren’t a fan of coffee this is perfect, plus it’s soo fun in the sun with the glitter that’s used in the drink. If you want support any business in Kingston I highly recommend this coffee shop. Plus the prices are...
Read moreIf you're looking for a "safe space" this is the place for you. If you appreciate freedom from discrimination, take your business elsewhere. There was a line of about 5-6 folks, and the barista immediately came out from behind the counter to tell me I had to leave if I didn't mask. I pleaded with the barista to simply serve the customers because they - like me - ought to be served. After I refused to be discriminated against per RCW 49.60.030, she threatened to call the cops on me. I asked "why, what will they do?" - she couldn't come up with a real answer. While this was going on all 8 or so people in the shop proceeded to verbally hurl insults, physically intimidate me at close range, and so on. Wow. She called the owner on the phone and I asked to speak with her, after I opened with "why are you encouraging your employees to discriminate against customers?" she hung up. At that point I decided I didn't want to give them my business anyways and wait 10 minutes for...
