Went to Kings BBQ in Kinston, NC thinking I’d be getting eastern NC BBQ. Wrong! The special was chicken pastry or chicken pie. It came with 2 sides, hush puppies and a drink. It was so good! The best part? $8.53 was my total bill. I got fried okra, green beans and sweet tea. The chicken pastry was really good. Hard to beat the price. Check them out if you get a chance! #foodie #tiktokfood #bbq #fyp #kinstonnc

A Terrific Meal! I drove through today, about 1:30pm, I think. I've never been to a King's BBQ before, and rarely eat pork (I eat Texas beef bbq... confused this pork had great flavor, but no red sauce! Ha!) My receipt says Kristin B, but not sure if that's who so kindly helped me with my Pig in a Pup combo order... which we decided to have slaw on the side, and was a great end result. I had potato salad on the side with hush puppies. And went with the default sweet tea... I normally drink regular iced tea... the kind without sugar. She could have been exasperated, but instead was really helpful. Amused that the slaw was diced, the h.puppies were white corn, and the pork wasn't sauced... all part of the experience, and not in a bad way, at all. I enjoy trying different local specialties. The sandwich was terrific! It was a really great stop on my trip. The sweat (with tea) lasted 5hours... a little dab 'll do ya! I'm really glad I stopped... and even shared this photo with multiple family members, states away.

Every time I work in Kinston, I swing by for the special. First of all, I noticed they changed their hours again and reopened on Monday’s. I always go thru drive thru. On the first day I had beef tips over rice which is listed as a special 3x in a week. I do wish they had more variety in the special of the day. I tried the bone-out fried chicken breast and it was just ok. I couldn’t understand why such a term was used on a menu. Either it’s cooked on the bone or you buy a boneless filet. Not sure why the felt the need to give you the same breast and just pull the bone off for you as if I’m not capable of doing that. Must be a local term. They serve the best homemade creamed potatoes and the cabbage always seasoned well. The side portions should be larger. I didn’t give 5 stars for service because the cashier forgot to give me my drink and I had to return to the restaurant.

I regret to share my recent experience. I feel compelled to address a deeply concerning issue that has left me disheartened. My visit was marred by the unfortunate treatment of black customers, which appeared to be reflective of the owner's discriminatory practices. Throughout my time at the restaurant, I observed incidents where these customers were treated differently and less respectfully than others. This discriminatory behavior is unacceptable and profoundly disappointing.A restaurant should be a space that welcomes and embraces all guests, fostering an inclusive and enjoyable dining experience for everyone. The presence of racism and discrimination not only tarnishes the reputation of the restaurant but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes and divisions in our community. It is terrible to see an establishment engage in such behavior in this day and age. I urge the owner and management to undertake diversity training and implement policies that promote equality, fairness, and inclusivity. Only by acknowledging and rectifying this troubling behavior can this place hope to regain the trust of its community and foster a positive environment for all its patrons. Until this issue is resolved, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this...

Prices are going up sky high on door dash. The food is good sometimes but it may depend on who they have in there. Sometimes the chicken can be refried in old grease and at times depending on who's cooking; it can be fresh. The fish plates on door dash is around $15.75 and they are now going to put one piece of fish into your plate.

I thought maybe it was a mistake or an accident that they only put one piece in mines and my family member's plate which came up to $30 something dollars. One of the employees told me that they will start putting in one piece of fish on the $15 plates. They had this discussion after labor day. The fish plates and sides are also smaller. Everything around here wants you to pay more for less. I can no longer purchase their fish plates. You are not getting your money's worth. I'm not sure what financial issues and shortage this place is experiencing, but they are not going to rip me off anymore with them fish plates. I will just make my own lol you can get a whole bag of fish from Walmart (great value) for $8 lol I'm tired of this town ripping off their...
