Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Kirkland

I edited the review to 4 stars because things have improved since I wrote it.

The food itself is fine. My order hasn't been messed up yet - albeit it's usually a simple order. The food quality at another nearby DQ is actually consistently much better than this location (in terms of freshness of fries, taste/crispness of chicken strips and proportions...and also not having fries dumped all over the top of the BBQ sauce). The staff in the last couple of months have gotten pretty bad though, sad to say. I often have to repeat or clarify the order a few times. I realize it's on a main road but this hasn't occurred in the previous 3 years that I've been going to this location. When I get to the window, there's a lot of loud laughing and chatter, which may explain the issues with hearing orders. It's great to see happy employees getting along but I feel they rarely acknowledge or interact with the customer. They rarely say hello when you get to the window - just tell you the order total and take the card/money. They hand you food without saying "thank you" or "have a nice day" (or some other sentiment that signifies the end of the interaction). They seem more occupied with laughing amongst themselves (whilst speaking in another language) - which could tend to make the customer feel like they are being laughed at or talked about. The place was skeezy, dirty, and needs to be torn down. I wouldn't go back to this location if they paid me. My blizzard was peanut butter and brownies, but it had a berry flavor as if the machine wasn't cleaned. Not what it could be.

This is the second time I've been to this location. I didn't write the first time, but I couldn't NOT review a second time. The floor was like an old theater sticky floor. People (more than one group) went to sit at a table, but often passed the first table because it was sticky. Some went outside because it had recently rained. All of the indoor trash cans were overflowing. There was no sticker in the bathroom stating that employees are required to wash their hands. When we went in, no one was waiting, but there were 3 women speaking Spanish in the drive through area and the guy at register. TLDR: blizzards with berries taste better.

I had never been to a DQ before and decided to grab a blizzard. As eye catching and novel as they were to me, the taste wasn't too great in my honest opinion. I found that the blizzards aren't too sweet (which can be a good thing for most) but the flavors taste the same with every bite (besides the blizzards with berries). I don't know about you, but I'm the kind of person that wants to be able to taste the individual flavors of things in my ice cream rather than have every bite be the same. My palate enjoys variety otherwise that cup gets boring real fast.
