I stopped by here tonight for dinner and I loved it! My friend went in and ordered for take-out so I didn't go in, but from what I could see there are a couple seating spots if you want to eat there. I had no problem parking; it's located in a strip mall type of building with a plentiful parking lot.
We got the Alaskan (with potato-mushroom dumplings), Classic (with potato-cheese dumplings), Greek (with chicken dumplings), and Sweet & Spicy (with beef dumplings). Between four adults and a baby, we ate all 70 dumplings and we were so stuffed!
I think my favourite was the classic; it was a little spicy and very vinegary. My second favourite is the Greek - it didn't even need extra sour cream. I would recommend getting this one with a meat dumpling to have an extra chew in contrast to the vegetables.
My friend also got the garlic flavoured sour cream. I didn't try it, but he said it was definitely garlic! He also got super excited that they had Kvass (which I guess is a fermented bread soda that's popular in parts of Europe).
I unfortunately live 40 minutes so I am not in the area very often, but I can't wait to be back here again. They had a sign out front of their lunch special - 15 dumplings and a soda for $10. That's...
Read moreThis is a small restaurant and owner handles everything. If you are looking for Russian version of comfort food, this is one of the restaurants you can find. This restaurant sells pelmeni (although menu says "dumplings"). They are tiny dumplings filled with meat, potato or / cheese. They are delicious and seasoned well. They are bite-sized morsels. You don't normally find this kind of food in many cities in US but I am pleasantly surprised by how authentic and delicious they are. They are just like home-cooked ones (nothing like machine made restaurant style). They also sell "Piroshki" which is one of my favorite Russian comfort food. Sadly they are not great (should have baked better - need to be more dark brown colored buns).
Here are information: Parking: It is located in a small mall and plenty of parking space Food: Delicious and full of flavor (only talking about their pelmeni) Service: Attentive and friendly Ambiance: Fast food joint-like and there is NO dining tables nor chairs (except two chairs) Suggestion: They are nothing like Asian dumplings (looks similar) but pelmeni is a well-known Russian comfort food and it has a great taste. You...
Read moreWe got our first take out from here last night and I have to say it was a huge hit!
Not knowing what to order, I asked the owners advice. He was SO helpful, listened to what both my daughter and I wanted, suggesting options to keep us both (and the family waiting at home) happy.
We ordered plain, fully loaded and sweet & spicy dumplings, with a variety of meet/chicken/potato & cheese filings). For the piroshki, we ordered the meet, potato & mushroom and potato & cheese. In addition we got a side of Rushin coleslaw and borscht. I haven't had borscht before and was a little hesitant as I'm not a fan of beetroot but it tasted so good!
Unfortunately none of the main food survived a second for me to take photos, it was just too tasty!
Given it was our first meal from Rushin, I decided to treat the family to desserts. All were really tasty with the honey cake, apple turnover and sweet apricot piroshki being tied favorites.
We will definitely be back, the food was a delightful change to the usual Chinese/Pizza/Mexican/Indian takeout...
