A grotesquely over-priced shop serving perfectly ordinary ice cream. Not bad, but nothing to do backflips over, either. Limited selection of flavors, and a bored, listless employee serving as the single onsite representative of the company. It was my first time here. I thought today would be a nice day to give it a try.
Although prices are not posted, I asked and learned a single scoop of ice cream in a small cup was $6.19. This is a small scoop, a good size for a child. Not a good price for a child, but at least small enough a toddler could finish it. Putting it in a sugar cone costs an extra two dollars.
I was charged $8.19 for a single dip cone with the amount of ice cream on the small side - smaller than a tennis ball. I wish I’d taken a picture of it, but I can describe it. There was so little ice cream it barely stuck up above the edge of the cone.
Chances are, that one small ice cream cone covered an hour’s pay for the one high-school-age employee sitting in the tiny building. No surprise they don’t post any prices. I certainly hope this high school person is paid a living wage and does not need to get by on tips. After paying $8.19 for a small ice cream cone, I didn’t have anything left over to compensate for low wages.
Reminder to the ownership: this is Kirkwood, not Catalina Island. Note to self: it was worth a try, but...
Read moreIt should have been 5 stars based solely on the ice cream flavor, but I marked it down to 3 stars as a entire package for good reason.
The ice cream and flavors are outta this world, but so are their prices. When they told me it was $15.00 a pint I almost about passed out. Good God - it's good stuff but for $15.00 I expect more than a m flippen pint. My parents owned several Baskin Robbins growing up and we charged that for an entire ice cream cake and that had more than a pint of ice cream. Good Lord this place is way over priced!! So after I dropped $60+ dollars today I got a free scoop of ice cream. I shouldn't and normally wouldn't have spent that much - but I didn't know the prices until the gal rung me up.
I understand companies have to make money, but they do not have to get rich on me.
At these prices needless to say, I will not be a patron of this ice cream...
Read moreI LOVE LOVE LOVE Clementine’s Creamery!!!! The ice. Ream is revolutionary in its creativity and variety. It’s obviously made with that finest, freshest ingredients. Even the ice cream cups are excellent—heavy cardboard, big enough for the a large scoop ( all scoops here ARE huge) , and comes (upon request) with a dome to protect the delectable cold delight on the way home. The menu changes often but retains some favorite flavors each time. ThE kiosk in downtown Kirkwood is adorable and perfect for the end of a walk with the dog or a leisurely shopping extravaganza They have added a number of benches on which you can enjoy your treat. Come see...
