So I go to an el palacio in a different location normally but this one is closer to my house. So me and my wife thought to give a shot. Bad idea especially probably because it’s a weekday. Coming in and being seat was fine. The place seem pretty clean at the table and the eating area so, so far so good right. But then we went to get the food. A key thing to remember when going to places like this is you have to expect some good and some bad. Well in my eyes just the look of the food was all bad. The food in appearance did not look the freshest but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt so I went ahead and serve myself. The food look like it could be hours old and was not hot at all except for the soups which were kinda hot to say the least. My first plate was rice with gandules, stew chicken, and salchicha. I was going to get yucca but I saw three fruit flys just cooked on the surface red flag. I sat down to eat my plate and the stew chicken I got was much more than that. There was a large rubber chunk of what I think was pig skin and many many tiny bone in there as well. I eat puerto ricin food a lot even cooking at home sometimes and have never seen this. The rice was hard and dry as if it could be cooked days ago and gandules wrinkled and dry also. And las the salchicha tasted how cleaning material smelled so I stopped eating and placed that plate aside to be taken. Next I got some fried food which also tasted days old and fried in really old oil and chicken wing which you could tell that they where saturated by the hot sauce and had a vinegary taste in a bad way. Finally I got a chicken noodle soup and in there I found more fruit flys so I stopped eating. This was my first time coming to a buffet and I left hungry and discussed and left food on every plate almost full. I’m not the kind of person to judge harshly but I will never be eating at this place ever again. I’m a big boy and I know it’s a buffet so you run some risk but this was disgusting and for the price I could never eat here again. Maybe it’s different on the weekends and food might be fresher but that’s a risk I’m not willing to take. So if your thinking of going to eat here, please consider your option or visit the OBT location in stead if it’s a must but I wouldn’t eat at this location.
Also I thought I might share just if you needed extra convincing, the food I did eat did not stay down. I’m not food poisoned thankfully I have an iron stomach but my body confirmed for me that the I food I ate...
Read moreI love the food at this restaurant and I have been going to the restaurant for years. It was my favorite restaurant and we used to invite family and friends to go with us all the time. But I AM NOT GOING BACK after what I witnessed in December. It was a few days before Christmas and a lady walked in to get take out for lunch. She was so thin and looked like she was already not feeling too well. As she was taking out her food the owner's wife walked up to her and yelled, "No no no, friend!". The wife made a big scene and the woman was clearly so embarrassed and uncomfortable. The owner's wife continued ranting about the food being only $6.99 and making the poor woman feel bad. Apparently the woman had filled her box with a little too much food for the owner's wife's liking. It was awful! I could barely watch. I thought the woman would faint. The lady did not even halfway fill her take out box, but the owner's wife made her get another one! The lady was so flustered she barely took any more food. It was ridiculous. THE OWNER'S WIFE IS A CHEAP, RUDE WOMAN. The poor lady had to pay over $14 for a $7 meal. After witnessing this scene I decided I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT UNTIL THE OWNER'S WIFE NO LONGER WORKS THERE. I knew about her cheap nature and she has been rude to me in the past, but never TO THAT EXTENT. Never again. Not stepping foot in that establishment until...
Read moreMy friend, kids, and I really enjoyed the lunch buffet here. We have been here twice. First time the food was very good, hot, meats were tender. Second time I came back, food were kinda dry, the meats didn't taste fresh and rather dry, fried food were kinda old and sitting in the tray too long. So it's a hit or miss experience for us.
Highlights: Daughter loves the orange colored noodles. It made me curious and so I had to give it a try. The noodle is on the sweet side of the scale. Mussels are a must try My addiction is the corn nuggets with cheese and I never like cheese, but this cheese was soft and kinda lightly sweeten. Was was good the first time I came. The second time they were room temperature and dry. If you like braised pork, that’s a must try here, soft and tender and flavorful! Unfortunately, it wasn't like that during our second visit back. If you like goat meat, their braised goat meat is so tender and flavorful Friendly customer service Lunch buffet was only $13.99
Con: Baked fish was a bit dry. The sweet rice pudding was still a bit too firm compared to other Latin restaurants I have tasted at. Cooking the rice longer might help.
I hope to bring my husband here next time when we are in the area. I know he will like it. We will definitely return. I didn’t have a chance to try...
