HCA Florida Osceola Hospital — Local services in Kissimmee

My husband arrived by ambulance from a car accident. Our nurse, I think her name was Isalamarie (she said just call her Marie to make it easier).

After many scans, the doctor says he can go home, no further info, people come in to discharge us, I asked for our nurse and they said, it's fine we have your discharge papers. They took the IVs out of him, he had no pain medicine yet and I did not have a ride or clothes for him as they cut his clothes off of him, they were on their way to me.

Discharge said "We need the room, we'll get you a gown to wear and he can change in the bathroom later, but for now you'll have to wait in the lobby" I asked to have him get helped up, they said he was fine and could get up on his own and left.

I had to bring down the side of the bed for him without knowing how to do so and help him up slowly and dress him in a gown. Upon standing, he went white and had to sit, so I went to ask for a wheelchair and our nurse.

Upon asking, 5 minutes later our nurse Marie came in and she said she wasn't ready to discharge him, she still had to give him a drip of fluids, his pain medication, and recheck many things. I told her what happened. She saw he was dizzy. Dr Song and others came in, my husband's BP went from 125/90 to 84/50 from standing.

At first, they said, oh we already discharged him, but Marie was adamant, "he is still my patient, I'm not done with him, he needs help!" So they hooked him back up, poked a 3rd hole for IV in him, did another ultrasound, and such.

They apologized for the freak accident, I said it would do better with communication, and Dr Song mentioned "We help the patient and their care, we don't care about their experience, but sorry about what happened". I never meant MY communication, I meant communication with HIS team and triage unit. Marie kept apologizing and said this is NOT how it was done.

Later the attendee of the floor comes in, he is really tall, he's been in a few times, and he likes his blood pressure and tells my husband to stand up, where he said he would walk him. He only walked him 5 feet and back to the bed and said ok, you're fine, you can be discharged unless you want to stay overnight to be observed. I wasn't sure which was the best option.

Marie said she would begin to prepare an overnight room. I asked to clarify, overnight or go? She said overnight!

Then the attendee doctor comes back and says ok, you're free to go! I inquired about new discharge papers and they stated my husband didn't need them since it would say the same thing and they didn't need to document any more information because it was unnecessary, that I had what I needed the hour + prior and should suffice. So the last hour or two, I have no info of what they did for him!

A discharge nurse came in and I asked to speak to Marie before leaving to have her remove the IV, he said don't worry he knows what he is doing and Marie walked in asking what was going on, he was supposed to be overnight. Our nurse had NO communication.

And on top of that, she told the discharge nurse to move and that she would do it and they responded they knew what they were doing, and that she could put on the bandaid. It was very...toxic.

She asked the guy to go find a wheelchair for him and when he left, she stated she had never seen it be as bad as today and she was embarrassed and wrote the director on OUR behalf because it was WRONG.

I need to know what will be done about this because the whole ordeal was ridiculous, how can there be NO communication nor any reason to own up they were wrong? Our nurse even asked for me to write in because she wanted to make sure we were heard.

No patient should ever have to go through what we went through. This was our first time at this hospital, and I had heard many good things, but after our first experience, I can say for certain I will never go back.

I would never go to this hospital again. Monday, April 10th approximately 10pm I went to Millenia ER and was transferred to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital to be admitted for gallbladder removal surgery. My surgery did not happen until Friday, April 14th and I was released Saturday, April 15th. I did not eat all day Tuesday, April 11 in preparation for the MRI. After the MRI, I ate and triggered a gallbladder attack. The pain exceeds a 10, which is what landed me in the ER in the first place. The pain medicine I would be administered throughout my stay took the pain from a 10 to an 8 for around 2-3 hours, which was too soon to take more pain medication. I was told that my surgery would happen on Wednesday, April 12th. I went the entire day into the night without eating, until late in the night it was deemed that surgery wasn't happening. They let me eat, it triggered a gallbladder attack with pain at a 10, and it took 1.5 hrs to get pain medicine. I was rocking back and forth and crying in pain, holding ice packs to my ribs/back area. I was told my surgery would definitely happen Thursday, April 13th since it didn't happen the day before. Eventually, I was actually taken down to the pre-op waiting area, where I heard comments from nurses "why is she even here." I waited for hours before they took me back to my room to wait. I still didn't eat all day. There was a really nice surgeon who said he didn't mind doing it in the middle of the night if he had to, they just had to wait until the OR was available because they're a trauma hospital and kept receiving trauma cases. Eventually around midnight I asked if the surgery wasn't happening, because I hadn't ate. They said it was not happening, so I ate. There were so many instances of my pain level being at a 10, and either the nurses kept saying they had to wait for the doctor to put in orders (which would take hours), or they would literally do nothing because they already gave me pain medicine that hardly worked. There was one time that the nurse said "these are the medications we have on file for you" and put a peice of paper on my lap and left the room. On Friday, April 14 I was considering leaving AMA, but they were able to complete my surgery. Afterwards, I was in severe pain. Nobody would do anything about the pain other than what was prescribed, I stayed awake in tears the entire night in severe pain. Nurses who came in would just tell me to go to sleep, as if they didn't believe me that the pain was so severe I couldn't sleep. Around 7am, the pain randomly subsided on it's own (I'm sure it was the gas pains from surgery). The lead nurse would come in every day and express how important their positive reviews were so they wanted to address any concerns. I told every single lead nurse about the issue with pain management and the delay of my surgery, and I just got the same spiel every time. Every morning that the doctors, surgeons, etc made their rounds, it was so awkward to go 4 mornings without having surgery. They were even shocked. My stay at this hospital was very traumatizing. I wrote a review of Millenia ER but I forgot to write one for HCA. All in all, I understand it's a trauma hospital and I wasn't considered an emergency, but I have friends who are nurses who are shocked at how this experience went for me and were advising leaving AMA to attend x, y, z hospital for better care. Never again. Also weird side note, I noticed that the pain monitor on the screen was never correct. Sometimes it said 5, sometimes 0, but never the number I expressed, which was between 8-10. In hindsight, that should have been a sign that nobody was truly...

I must say my experience this time after not being there in a while. I'm a little heartbroken on how bad things have changed and gone down hill to see how care providers have lost the ability to care, it's very heartbreaking for a doctor to work in that establishment and make the whole building look terrible brings a bad look to the brand. The doctor that was on call that day. In particular I'm disgusted by him. He made me feel like I was worse than poop under his shoe. That was a feeling not a treatment for a doctor to cross his arms when you're sitting in an emergency care room telling you there's nothing he can do for you to go see your doctor doesn't make anyone in the situation feel somewhat cared for. Why are you here Sr?? Because I'm sure he will get paid just for telling me there's nothing he can do for me, his attitude. His demeanor his treatment towards me is as if I did something personal to this man. I don't even know him but his treatment towards me was not called for everyone, including the nurse that was sitting next to me can notice that some of the things he was saying are doing was uncalled for because they threw their hands up and say to me that I'm just a nurse that clearly states a lot about his demeanor of why he's acting the way he was acting. They clearly saw it was unnecessary everyone has a bad day but when you sign up to do a job, your bad day cannot reflect your productivity of your duties. You still have to do your job no one needs to pay for you. Having a bad day and I didn't feel like I needed to pay for him having a bad day so to be clear about my experience in the emergency room. That day in particular was awful I'm heartbroken that doctor in particular made that whole establishment look so bad in my eyes and he's just one guy who represents the brand if he chooses to act this way he should get his own facility and act that way on his own facility. He does not need to work for a huge hospital acting that way cuz it looks bad on the nurses looks bad on the brand. The nurses are awesome. They're good people. They you can see the kindness in their eyes, but that doctor is the one that tainted everything. He made the experience awful and you get no stars for him, Harbour David M DO - Doctor ( DAVID HARBOUR M DO), needs a serious valuation because it was clear to me that he is just there for a check. The fairness for patients was not there whatsoever and if HCA Florida Osceola Hospital stands on their brand they would make sure that he does and no one else ever feels the way that he made me feel but I find very interesting about this experience was I had the surgery at that hospital. I broke my ankle in a car accident. I have metal in my ankle 10 screws and a plate. That's why I said I haven't been there in a while. My ankle swelled up and I was in pain. Left work.
