Mediocrity is not an option! Two yrs. ago I gave this Golden Krust Franchise 5 stars. Now I'm giving it 1 star ( yes I've been supporting the business in between). I would like to know when you buy into a franchise such as Golden Krust isn't there a standard you have to follow in regards to how meals are created and ingredients used?
I went there recently and spent close to $50.00 dollars which I typically do. One of the items I bought is saltfish fritters. I got home took my first bite... I did not taste any saltfish. I decided to cut it open, to my surprise was there three or four tiny pieces of saltfish which means all I was eating was fired flour drenched with black pepper. There was no fresh herbs in it.
Note to owners I realize you are not Jamaicans so you may not take pride in the food experience you are creating for us Jamaicans and those who love Jamaican food. If there was another Golden Krust near by you would be out of business. Please, learn how our food is seasoned and cooked; if you have to cut corners take it off the menu. Also, improve your customer service. Jamaicans might be direct in how we communicate but we deliver and expect great customer service...Why? because we take pride in our food. Hence, if you can't create our food correctly don't sell it. In a time like this you need to step back and assess your business without customers like us whether it's those buying just a patty or us who spend close to $50.00 or more you have no business. I've have opted to drive 25 minutes to the one on W. Colonial to get fried fish, soup etc just because their food is are a better testing.... the owner like you is not Jamaican but he understands the importance of quality food and customer service. Please do not respond to this review with any generic comment. Make changes. Here's a start: We don't put celery in our soups and fill it with mainly carrots. We don't put batter on our fried fish Fritters is made saltfish, fresh...
Read moreNormally? I don't have such poor reviews. I really don't like giving them. However, this place left me no choice. One great thing? It was very clean. Immaculate!
I don't know what kind of Jamaican food they're serving. I also haven't tried everything they have to offer. But what I can say, based on my purchases, I would NEVER buy anything from this place again, unless it's a bottled beverage.
It's a DISGRACE to Jamaican food. As a Jamaican, I was shocked. Everything purchased was AWFUL...Okay, the Chicken Soup was drinkable, but it failed in taste - it was bland. The patties were dry beyond sense, the coco bread was coco bad & tough, the harddough bread tasted terrible - what happened??? The bun? The bun was dry & stale - really guys? The bun? Even the darn cheese for the bun was wretched. It lacked taste, and was too hard. The darn cheese made a sound, when dropped on the counter. Whhhyyy???
Now in their defense? They only prepared the soup, as everything else was pre-done & packaged. However, it's still disappointingly sad. I'm Jamaican, and I know good Jamaican food, when I taste it. I had a feeling, from the minute I walked in, that the food was going to be doubtful. Why? There was no wonderful cooking odor in the air. A dead give-away. Food is supposed to slap you in the face from outside, but marinate your senses, at the very least, when you walk through the door. This definitely was not the case.
The customer service was great mind you, wonderful. But the food? I feel my Sister & I deserve our $53.22 returned. No...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER again. If you're looking for real Jamaican food?...
Read moreI do not try to be negative and certainly hoping my experiences over the years should help the franchise owner to step up their product quality, in terms of the quality l know it is there but only when the product is freshly done and served on a daily basis. My giving my good hard earned money is anticipation of receiving good fresh food and not always stale and overnight left over warmed up and how do you figure we will not know it's not fresh. I usually go early morning near mid day and l happened to try late afternoon and the food was great. I have called even to complain as l get take out, get home not expecting to spend so much money in exchange for bad food. I am Jamaican, and we not about suing but others might if they claim to have gotten sick from eating stale meat, especially chicken even when you brown stew it you can tell its stale. I spoke to the person that works there on the phone she was very polite and offered for me to come back and she could make it right. Lady!! You have no clue, you think l am going to drive so many miles to come back for you to give me fresh food that l should have gotten on my first visit? I can only hope you keep us coming back and the cleanliness was pure awesomeness. This is a easy fix. I suggest you take inventory of your product sales and try to put out a certain amount. So what if the fish is finished, l certainly will order something else with no hesitation because everything is fresh, tasty and palatable. I am not giving up on you. I love that you are...Representing!!!! I know you can get it...
