On September 26, 2022 I went to eat with 6 members of my family at this restaurant. The experienced we had was horrible. The food was below average in quality. Our food was served cold and the steak I ordered was very rubbery and salty. We complained to the waitress but she completely ignored us. When we were given the bill, The waitress didn’t removed the skinny, rubbery steak off the bill. I told her that we didn’t eat the steak and that we only ate the warm white rice with beans. We felt that we shouldn’t have to pay $20.00 for the steak. I only wanted to pay for the rice and beans because that’s what we ate. I told the waitress I wanted to speak to the manager. She said the manager was not there and that she didn’t know where the owner was either. The waitress insisted that we pay for the steak we didn’t eat. She said that if we were to return to the restaurant again that we will be offered a discount. I did not want that because we’re not planning to ever return to this restaurant. They began arguing with me, saying that they can’t do anything about it, that I have to pay the total amount of the bill. They were rude, argumentative and nasty towards us. I kept saying, I’m not paying for food I didn’t eat, that was cold and tasted horrible. They didn’t care it was so terrible and poor quality! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anybody, not even to a dog. The food was very poorly made, the service render was very below par. To anyone thinking about going to this restaurant, you will be dissatisfied, disappointed and...

But that's not why we go there, now is it?
Inside, it had a real split personality. To the left is all bar and nightclub. It has a stage for live music and a bunch of seating, making it a more intimate venue (probably hosting a lot of local talent). The bar seems small but well stocked.
On the right side is a buffet style Hispanic restaurant, exactly what you would expect to see in a typical Hispanic market- L shaped serving counter running the entire length of the space with a plethora options.
But what's important is the food, right? So let's get to that.
I was there to pick up an order for a staff meeting of about 15 people. We ordered Pollo, maduros, pernil, arrow Blanco y habichuela.
The pernil (pork) was good. As was the rice (which was well seasoned, not plain white) and beans (again, well seasoned with big chunks of pumpkin). I always love the plantains!
But the chicken. My lord, the chicken! This place calls itself the King of the Chickens, and it's no lie! Rotisserie style, beautifully seasoned, and just as good the next day!
Seriously fantastic chicken, and with everything else, a very good lunch for all of us.
Speaking of which, our total bill for the 15 of us was about $220. Not only did all of us eat our fill, but we all had enough to take home dinner!

Read moreThe food is good Fri - Sunday, the earlier in the day the better. The servers will always have an attitude an serve you according to their mood that day. Serious fly problem they don’t care about, food 75% of the time cold. God forbid you order from the menu, you’ll be there for 3 hrs. There hours say 1am, but they close the kitchen at 9pm everyday.
I didn’t feel like cooking last night. I went over to buy 2lbs of Pernil and other acompañantes. I literally had to walk her thru everything. The Pernil is expensive and greasy. She served nothing but burnt parts and cuero. Then when I asked to give me a better piece she thru it down and served me with an attitude. I hadn’t been here in a while, I was hoping all the negative reviews would’ve changed things. I was gladly reminded why I don’t eat here and I why I always choose to travel across town to Sol or even Plazita Popular.
It’s a shame, you can easily go down the street to Sol de Borinquen or even Bravo and get the same for a more reasonable price as well as a smile while taking your money.
So much potential, such...
