Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Knoxville

Absolutely careless. Now dealing with 2 people with fairly severe allergic reactions.

Two members of my party told the cashier, individually, when ringing up, that they have allergies. One specifically said milk and egg. And the cashier said "ok no problem." And the other has a laminated list of their allergies, and when they showed it to the cashier, she look at it really quick and said "yea you can have the one you ordered, thats fine."

Didn't tell anyone, didn't write on the order ticket, about the Allergy. Didn't get a Mgr to confirm, Didn't look at the ingredients lists.

We initially couldn't find ingredients online. So we had no choice but to trust the worker.

Probably banana cross contamination for one, or "natural flavors" (we thought, since the cashier said it was ok, maybe it was just real fruit)

For the other, it was probably dairy cross contamination.

The only dedicated "Allergy" pitchers they had were for nuts.

And they clearly didn't know or care about the other allergens, so the pitchers weren't washed.

Allergies are no joke. And employees need to be trained. If you don't know, or you can't serve us because of those allergies, you tell us. You don't...

I was in the store today and yesterday picking up an order and on both occasions had poor service. I came in prior to other people in the store and nobody acknowledged me! Not only did they not acknowledge me, they waited on other people who came in after me. Both men looked at me in my face as while I stood in front of them, made eye contact and didn’t say a single word. It was as if I wasn’t standing there. Saying absolutely nothing to me, not even a smile, and proceeding to making other people‘s orders and on both occasions. I’m the only black person in the restaurant so I can only come to one conclusion. If you don’t want black customers, put a sign on the door. It’s not a mistake, accidental overlooking, and zero explanation to make this acceptable! It’s bias and racist to assume I wasn’t first and purposely not acknowledge me!...

I came In yesterday 3/23/25 at 3:30pm before I went to work as I always do. I am rating the service a 1 star because as soon as I opened the door one of the girls behind the counter gave me a death stare like she didn’t want anymore customers to come in or something (she had long brown hair) I ordered with a friendly girl, proceeded to wait on my order and the long brown haired girl comes to where I’m standing by the counter & throws my bag of food on it with attitude & just walks away. I’m never the type to make bad reviews but if I feel the need to, I will. Luckily I’ve never been in her presence before & hopefully I never will...
