Ardie's Flipside Pub & Grill — Restaurant in La Crosse

The food here is amazing as always but our waitress was terribly rude. I understand that she was busy and had big groups but was just horrible to our table. She was annoyed when we were ordering and she was rushing us. When she took our drink order she told us that it would be a few minutes and we told her that it was not an issue and to just take her time - we were totally okay waiting. The hostess then came up and asked us what we got to drink so she could help the server out. We told her and then she told the server that she was getting the drinks. The server then signs, rolls her eyes, and says “I told them that it would be a few minutes” loud enough for us to hear her. Then when she brought us our food she looked at me and asked “did you get the no mushrooms?” I said “No it was my husband” she then sighed and said “this one in my hand has mushrooms that’s why I was asking” She then rolled her eyes and aggressively put the plates in front of us. Have occasionally gone here for a couple years. The food is usually good but nothing special. Service decent and prices reasonable. I recently went here for the wing special, first time. The wings did not taste very good and were borderline under cooked. The first batch of fries were good but the refill tasted like nasty old frying oil. I had looked on the website prior to going and it showed a drink special. When inside I asked the waiter who was unaware of the special. She asked a bartender or manager who said they don't use the website anymore... Even though they have current stuff posted such as mothers day buffet coming up. As we were sitting at table I also found a drink specials card on the table. It also stated the same specials I located online. Again this was showed to the waiter who took it away and they still did not give the special that was advertised. It may not sound like much but it is poor customer service to not offer a special when it is posted twice. Based on this past experience I highly doubt I will return. I really like this location and tend to dine in within the bar area. Prices are very reasonable, food tastes good and what you would expect from a Pub & Grill. My go-to is the California Burger with a side of fries (photo attached).

There are two parts to this pub. One side of the building is more a family setting with a proper restaurant dining area. On the opposite side is the pub/bar. Seating around the bar is ample and there are also dining tables for those who want to have an adult beverage with their meal in a more casual setting. They typically have fresh popped popcorn that diners can help themselves to while they wait for their meal or while having a beer.

Overall - it's a good place to stop in, have a drink, and enjoy a no-frills lunch or dinner. My only disappointment, thus reducing the overall to 4-stars, was they recently stopped doing a Tuesday night dinner special on burgers as it became a ritual among myself and a few friends each week to stop in, have a beer, nibble on some popcorn, and eat a burger combo.
