I have dinned here many times and am always beyond happy with the service, atmosphere, and food. I know the owner and their family personally and they are incredible people. The menu here has always been reasonable and had a large variety of options. I went for dinner the day before new year's eve and had made the reservations online (I would normally call but they weren't open that early in the morning, which is totally understandable). When we got there and were seated it was lovely, our sever was so sweet and polite and the whole place was so cozy. Our waiter gave us our menus and said that they had a set menu tonight with four courses. I was a little surprised since I was looking forward to getting one of my usuals and maybe a dessert but there was no time where we were told the price of the set menu. Online it has many photos of the menu which were similar to one's I had seen before and the estimate per person (from 49 people according to google) was 30-50 per person, which is what i have experienced in the past. We glanced over the set menu options and they all looked good so we decided to stay. Once we got to the second course I commented that it was odd we had not been told the price of the meal and there were no prices on the menu, but we assumed it would reasonable, something around 50-60 per person (epecially considering how small all the portions were). At the end of the meal we received the bill and it was 85 per person! For a two person dinner plus tax it came out to 179.83! While i am aware this is a higher end restaurant, and the food was delicious, it seemed excessive to charge 85 per person with no mention of that high ticket price before we had already finished. With tip and all it came out to 209 and some change, which was nearly double what I was hoping to spend, since I was expecting to have my own choice of what to order (my usual bill is around 100+tip). Needless to say I was not impressed with the communication and felt quite betrayed by a place that is supposed to be elevated comfort foods. I'm sure I will be back again, but will just have to make the extra effort to call and ask about the menu ahead of time, which seems a bit extra. Overall the dining experience and food was fantastic, just disappointed in the sour taste left after getting the...
Read moreCan’t speak to the food. But my husband called earlier to reserve a table and we originally reserved it for 7 pm. We called back around 20 til 7 and changed our reservation for 8 and both times it was for outside. We got there and she immediately tried saying it was supposed to be reserved at 6. BOTH TIMES it was way after 6 and when she said it would be a while there were literally many tables free outside and inside but she said it was going to be an inside table or we could sit at the bar. We don’t drink so that’s not an option. They had my phone number so if our reservation had been at 6 they would have called. We live literally less than 5 minutes from the place we actually live on the same street. We called after 6 the second time so I don’t know why they would have assumed any of our reservations were at 6 pm. We were embarrassed to say the least. This would have been our first time here and we were really excited to try it. It was also our anniversary. But instead we left because apparently we called and spoke Spanish or a language she didn’t understand even though she confirmed what we said both times. We won’t be back there. Ever.
This is kind of an afterthought but I really feel like we were pushed out of this place. Like they for some reason didn’t want to serve us. I was dressed nicely bc it was our anniversary. My husband was casual but he works constantly and was just trying to relax. I’m not sure why they sit there and lied to us with us able to see that there were MANY tables available unless they were trying to make sure no one else saw us there. We’re not rich, but we were paying customers and they read our reservation details back to us both times we called. I’d really love it if someone here could let me know why we deserved to be treated this way. Most likely I’m going to be calling to speak to someone in the next couple of days if I don’t get...
Read moreHi there! This place has been a bit of a magical place for my now fiancé and I. We had our first anniversary here and it was incredible. The service, the atmosphere and especially the food. Everyone is kind, friendly, and conversational. By the time the next year rolled around we knew where we wanted to spend our second anniversary and came right on back. It was the 28th of April and as we were going through the specials with the waiter an older gentleman siting a booth away shot his warm voice over and exclaimed how amazing the starter special was. I chatted with him and as the date progressed he offered to take pictures of us, complimented my lovely then girlfriend, and was overall a joy. The waiter came back around and we weren’t getting appetizers—straight into entrees but I ordered the special the man recommended foolishly without realizing that it was a starter and switched my order to the amazing chile shrimp pasta with arugula dish. The man noticed this and smoothly moved to the waiter out of the corner of my eye and before I knew it we had the starter special. It was as good as the man exclaimed. I was going to go offer to buy the man a drink or perhaps chat with him further when he put on his cap and left for the evening. After an amazing time (to be expected when you come here) the waiter announced that the owner had comped our drinks as well. To you sir, whom I assume are the owner of Restore Public House. Thank you very much for such a wonderful evening. You have an amazing place that genuinely seems to have everything a restaurant should be about: good food and good people. I want you to know I proposed that night in your restaurant and she said yes!! I’m hoping your influence spreads wide and who knows? Might have to make anniversaries at Restore Public House...
