Just took my wife and daughter to the Rookery for her 59th birthday today. We were the only customers in the place this evening. No waiters or waitresses, so that is a bit of a problem, but okay, staffing is a problem, I understand. My wife's sandwich and daughter's burger were fine. I had a chicken wrap that was cold...I asked if it was supposed to be served cold and was told no, it is supposed to be hot. So there is that. The french fries were unique, I liked them very much. I'd love to support local businesses, but the food and drinks were quite expensive considering no service. You have to go to the bar to get drinks ($8.00 for a bloody), to get your order, to pay your bill, etc.. Sandwiches are all over $15. I think they have too much overhead in the bar, tvs, games, fancy garage doors etc., thus the higher prices. I guess I expected a better value. It is a nice looking place, and a quiet location. I don't think we will return, other places in town are a better overall...
Read moreCouldn't eat here because they don't keep accurate hours on Google. If you see this place come up on a road trip, avoid it. Inconsistent hours and no parking.
Edit: making weird comments about customer's bladders is never a good look. I may have reevaluated this review had The Rookery simply said they were waiting for Google to update their hours. Not sure where the updated sign was, I don't remember seeing it on the door, and The Rookery had the misfortune of being one more thing that went wrong at the wrong time after thousands of miles of driving, which is why I would have heard you out had you given a civil explanation. You are a public business and can't control every person's perception of you. You will receive bad reviews. You will have bad interactions. And if your business is any good a single one star review from out of town isn't the thing that will ruin you. But I don't find that owners with snotty attitudes that clap back at reviews have that kind...
Read moreCold beer and good food! The only problem is that it’s hard to get another cold drink. They don’t have wait staff for tables so when you want drinks, you need to go up to the bar every time. They also don’t post anywhere on their menus or tables that there is no wait staff so we sat there for awhile before I had to go up and ask the bartender about the service. Food can be ordered from tables with QR code on phones but no one comes back to check on you. Once it got busy, it was very hard to get more drinks and pay the tab since the bar was so busy. It would be nice if they had a separate place around the one of the sides of the bar to order food and drinks for people sitting at tables.
I did really like the atmosphere. They replaced the large front window with an overhead door so it can be opened when weather is nice. They also expanded to the place next door and put more games and a projector for sports games. We will be back to try their other...
