Stopped in at The Rookery and had The Eagle with tots. It's a fried chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, pepper jack cheese, and hot honey on a brioche bun — I added bacon, of course. That hint of honey really made the flavor pop. Really tasty sandwich. I like the layout of the place — clean, sharp look with kind of a sports bar and grill vibe. It feels like the kind of spot you’d want to hang out at. It’s right by the University of Wisconsin, and I can see it becoming popular with the students and locals alike. Atmosphere was great, not too loud, and there were about 15 people in there when I went around noon. It’s new, so everything’s still being finalized, but you can already tell it’s going to be a solid part of the local restaurant scene. Definitely recommending this one — I’ll be back!

This place was close, and we were looking for a quiet spot. Was a bit nervous with it right across the street from UW LaX but it was friendly service. Quiet on a Tuesday afternoon and the meal was wonderful. Loved the Siren as a wrap! Great flavors and perfect seasoning, with no component taking over. The QR code ordering was seamless and efficient, but I would ask that soft drinks be included. I understand that IDs can't be checked remotely, but sometimes we come to eat, not imbibe. The decor was great with historic pictures from the college over the years. Plenty of booths, tables, high tops, and of course seating at the bar.

I’m excited that something is reopening in this location. I think it will be excellent the food is good, get the fried green beans. I love the renovation! I found the menu a bit confusing, My burger came with an onion ring that wasn’t listed, the fries came with a confusing seasoning. As they get more established I hope they move from ordering at the bar/QR menu to table service.

Just took my wife and daughter to the Rookery for her 59th birthday today. We were the only customers in the place this evening. No waiters or waitresses, so that is a bit of a problem, but okay, staffing is a problem, I understand. My wife's sandwich and daughter's burger were fine. I had a chicken wrap that was cold...I asked if it was supposed to be served cold and was told no, it is supposed to be hot. So there is that. The french fries were unique, I liked them very much. I'd love to support local businesses, but the food and drinks were quite expensive considering no service. You have to go to the bar to get drinks ($8.00 for a bloody), to get your order, to pay your bill, etc.. Sandwiches are all over $15. I think they have too much overhead in the bar, tvs, games, fancy garage doors etc., thus the higher prices. I guess I expected a better value. It is a nice looking place, and a quiet location. I don't think we will return, other places in town are a better overall...

Couldn't eat here because they don't keep accurate hours on Google. If you see this place come up on a road trip, avoid it. Inconsistent hours and no parking.

Edit: making weird comments about customer's bladders is never a good look. I may have reevaluated this review had The Rookery simply said they were waiting for Google to update their hours. Not sure where the updated sign was, I don't remember seeing it on the door, and The Rookery had the misfortune of being one more thing that went wrong at the wrong time after thousands of miles of driving, which is why I would have heard you out had you given a civil explanation. You are a public business and can't control every person's perception of you. You will receive bad reviews. You will have bad interactions. And if your business is any good a single one star review from out of town isn't the thing that will ruin you. But I don't find that owners with snotty attitudes that clap back at reviews have that kind...

Cold beer and good food! The only problem is that it’s hard to get another cold drink. They don’t have wait staff for tables so when you want drinks, you need to go up to the bar every time. They also don’t post anywhere on their menus or tables that there is no wait staff so we sat there for awhile before I had to go up and ask the bartender about the service. Food can be ordered from tables with QR code on phones but no one comes back to check on you. Once it got busy, it was very hard to get more drinks and pay the tab since the bar was so busy. It would be nice if they had a separate place around the one of the sides of the bar to order food and drinks for people sitting at tables.

I did really like the atmosphere. They replaced the large front window with an overhead door so it can be opened when weather is nice. They also expanded to the place next door and put more games and a projector for sports games. We will be back to try their other...
