El Compadre Taco Shop & More — Restaurant in La Mesa

I definitely hop around to different taco shops. This one has the best hot sauce and Freshly cooked Mexican food. The ladies always nice. This one time she was kind of yelling, looking at me funny and it was because I was busy. I had something going on that was basically none of her business Inside my truck, my window went down 3/4 of the way. So she did not give me my soda and the correct hot sauce. I quit going there. It was weird experience. Maybe a month went by I went back one time. She was great like nothing happened then I went back last night, but it was on the last bite of enchilada. There was something hard I almost swallowed. It was a very thin piece of glass. It was small enough to go in my stomach unnoticed I don’t know why I felt like it was intentional. I’ve never had a piece of very thin, sharp glass in my food before. Hair yes! Here quite a few times! Maybe even a bug or in somebody’s food that was eating with me at any other restaurant!

But never, Glass! My gut feeling tells me that it was intentional. Over me not giving her attention or her assumptions of what I was doing regardless. That’s sick. It sucks because it was one of my favorite places.

Be careful. I wish I had the photo I should’ve took a picture and I’m not one to complain or ever put up bad reviews I don’t think I ever have. Maybe once This seemed pretty important, so please be careful. God only knows what that small sliver of glass would’ve done to my inside my intestines, my large intestine, my colon etc..

A long over due review. I've been going to this place for over 5 years. Each time is nearly always through the drive through. Regardless of the time of day the employees are always friendly. They always have a home feel to them. The food is always fantastic to their burritos to the chimichangas . It is easy to customize your orders asking for no pico or to add rice ect they never have an issue to it. Yes sometimes it cost extra but realistically that's any place the more you add the more it's gonna be. When it comes to portion sizes it is more than enough food. Their burritos are always big and filling. Not to mention ALWAYS hot! Temperature hot so u burn ur tongue when you take a bite and I love that. Means it's fresh food and their cooking from the heart I always love their chocolate banana shake. As no matter what time of day it is always cold...

We went to El Compadre because we received a coupon in the mail, but we will definitely be going back! I love that they have a drive-thru, but we went in on our first visit and ordered food to-go. The lady at the front was very patient and helped me figure out what I wanted (my Spanish is limited and most of the menu, including descriptions, are in Spanish). They prepared the food quickly, and boy was it delicious! I had a Shrimp burrito and my husband had the two taco combo plate. They were generous with the salsas as well! But seriously, the food was great. Well cooked, full of spices, and very little grease. The prices are excellent for the quality food. We will definitely...
