Absolutely blown away by the culinary mastery at Oodles by the Nood Bar in La Mesa! This unassuming gem serves up some of the most inventive, flavorful, and expertly crafted noodle dishes I've ever had the pleasure of devouring.
From the moment I stepped in, the aromas wafting from the kitchen had my taste buds doing the happy dance. The menu is a love letter to noodle enthusiasts, with options ranging from classic comforts to bold, adventurous creations. I opted for the Hong Kong Style Noodle Soup , and let me tell you, it was a revelation. The broth was a depth charge of flavor, with just the right amount of heat to leave me breathless. The noodles were cooked to a perfect, springy texture, and the pork belly ... oh, the pork belly! Tender, juicy, and infused with the most amazing marinade. But what truly sets Oodles apart is the attention to detail and care that goes into every single dish. You can taste the love and passion in every bite, and the portion sizes are generous, to say the least. Service was top-notch, too - friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff who clearly love what they do. Save room for dessert.. can't go wrong with the Fly Me To The Moon ! In short, Oodles by the Nood Bar is a must-visit destination for any food lover. Don't be fooled by the humble exterior - this place serves up truly exceptional cuisine that will leave you dreaming of noodles for days. Five stars, ten stars, a million stars - I'd give it all the stars in the universe...
Read moreEverything noodles from all over Asia. Except, no pho. Mainly Thai and Chinese food.
We ordered:
-Spicy Szechuan chicken wontons: You could tell these were made fresh on the spot and frozen. Great size and spicy sauce.
-Fried chicken wings dirty flavor: 6 wings were evenly fried and had a dry rub.
-Dan Dan Noodles: Typical Dan Dan dish has the numbing spice but not these. It does have the peanut nutty sauce with ground pork and many slices of cha shu pork belly.
-Laksa curry noodle soup: This is a Malaysian dish that I don’t see often. It has coconut milk, lots of chicken and shrimp. Reminds me of Vietnamese noodles.
-Hainanese chicken over rice: Every time I see this dish, I would order it. It’s all in the sauce and I would have to say I was disappointed because it wasn’t the ginger scallion sauce. They use ginger garlic soy sauce. The steamed slices of chicken breast were really dry. Least favorite dish of all.
We ordered leave 3 spice for the dishes and wasn’t spicy. Only the spicy wonton had a tiny kick.
This place serves alcohol and has beer on tap as well Thai beer and non alcoholic drinks.
Looking forward to coming back to try other noodle dishes. I also loved that the prices are reasonable for the portions...
Read moreSo I usually don’t like to leave bad reviews but this was completely unacceptable- I ordered a ramen on my lunch break (30mins) they took the ENTIRE time to make a ramen… a ramen. But that wasn’t the issue the issue was with the waitress, she dropped off a plate of wontons that I didn’t ask for. So I was confused and asked her if these are an appetizer because I didn’t order it. She said yes so I was like ok cool I’ll try it. When they were taking a long while I just asked if I could have my soup to go since I was out of time and needed to leave. When I got to the front desk I see them attempting to charge me for the wontons that I CLARIFIED I DIDNT ORDER. When I reminded the waitress about our previous conversation she rolled her eyes at me. Which was so rude and enough for me to not return. Getting to work I checked the bag and I had no utensils, no napkins and no chopsticks. For what I paid and the service I endured I will not be back nor do I think anyone else for that matter. If you don’t respect your customers you don’t respect your...
