Duke's — Restaurant in La Puente

BEST TASTING, FRESHEST BURGER I've had in a long time!! I always drive by this place and honestly was reluctant to try it because the look of the place isn't super inviting, but it looks like it just needs some updating. So I gave it a shot today and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality! The pickles taste homemade (not sure if they are) and it was the purfect ratio of condiments. I got the avocado burger and it was not only assembled with care, it was so yummy and filling! I should have only eaten 1/2 because its a big burger, but I couldn't help but eat the whole thing. Lol. Its THAT good. The ONLY reason I'm giving Dukes 4 stars instead of five is because I had to wait forever at the drive thru for my order to be taken and there were only 2 cars ahead of me plus a prettt empty parking lot. I mean, for the quality, I really shouldn't complain too much, except the employee who helped me wasn't the friendliest. Before I could get out a "thank you, have a nice day", she said, "you too". Maybe my telepathy is in full swing today, or she's just on auto pilot. It's possible she's just having a bad day so blessings to her, but I would like to see this place come up so they stick around, and service is an essential part of maintaining community relativity. Haven’t been to Dukes since child hood when they would do their car shows. So I came back To revisit. Service was good, drive through cashier was friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger combo and a chicken tender combo but it doesn’t come with a drink so that was an add on? Strange but ok I guess. It was around 30$.

The burger was red when I bit into it unfortunately, which can be of concern considering not everyone likes medium rare burgers. I asked for no pickles and they added pickles lol but no tomato. The fries were okay, lacked a bit of flavor. I will say everything was hot and fresh. I ordered a chicken tender order minus the drink. Which seemed to be able to feed 2 people. Which is decent. The chicken seemed cooked. A Little bit too over cooked. But overall can be a meal For two. Overall, 2.5/5 . Take a look at that hearty, full of love salad! Wow pastrami chili fries, DUKES DON'T MESS AROUN! With deep regret, I have come here time and time again without testing the vast, delicious looking menu BECAUSE I CAN'T GET THAT BREAKFAST BURRITO TO STOP DANCING THROUGH MY HEAD WEEK AFTER WEEK. Dukes don't care what time it is, Dukes will FEED you that burrito, you could have it right NOW! It's huge, its comforting, it cares. The potato lets you know that the work week is almost over, and the gentle, consistent peppers keep you from the chaos of life, and the fears it comes with. I used to think the "passion" mamma told me about would be a career, or a gourmet Italian bistro, or maybe a beautiful woman, but at 26, I have found my passion in an exotic little place called La Puente.
