Don Baja Grill — Restaurant in La Verne

I was really excited to try this place based off such great reviews but unfortunately it wasn’t worth the drive.

I ordered shrimp fajitas, a baja shrimp taco, and a side of guacamole. Upon ordering, they rang me up for the wrong item and I had to let them know a few minutes later after reviewing my receipt. When my order was ready, they forgot the tortillas and I had to remind them.

The food itself was a disappointment. The side of guacamole was essentially whipped avocado, no other ingredients. The taco had one piece of shrimp in it and the fajitas were overcooked, extremely oily, lacking a fair amount of shrimp, and bland. Literally no taste whatsoever. The final blow was the tortillas. I feel like they drove down the street and did a mass buy from el pollo loco.

Its good food, but nothing very special about it. Ive had a few things on the menu and its not grand its okay. Two fish tacos that are battered and fried, how hard can that be to do. The rice and beans are tasteless and mediocre at best. People on here saying that this food is just amazing don't know what this stuff should taste like. At best its okay. The service is nothing to write home about, its minimal service with a friendly smile. The prices are kind of high for what it is........ two tacos, a lump of rice, scattered beans to make it look like more and you are at $9.50 for that combination....... Only giving it 4 stars because they have barely opened and the grilled shrimp tacos are good. In terms of service, they deserve 1 Star. They are super chaotic and do not know how to handle a lot of service. The young boy asked me to fill my own cups of ice so that he could attend to another customer......did he want me to get behind the counter and fill up my own drink as well? These can be due to barely opening and they’re still trying to get in the groove of things but nevertheless, it was very unprofessional. Good grilled shrimp tacos. Will be giving them another chance.
