El Merendero — Restaurant in La Verne

Horrible window service. We have been eating here for years. Today (new year's eve) my Husband called in an order for pick-up. We were told 15 minutes. I arrived there was a line which is fine. The female at the window was extremely rude. I have never received such horrible service at this location. She was rude and slammed the window in my face twice. I was there to pick up an order and waited 30 minutes for an order that was ready and sitting on the counter getting cold. I waited 15 in line and another 15 just standing at the window waiting for the cashier to get it together. She slammed the window after each customer. She was rude to every customer before me. It's unbelievable that such a great place would have such a horrible cashier. Sad to say- My Husband and I will not be returning. I can deal with slow service. I dealt when they had a B, but rude service is unacceptable. This establishment has lost...

My family and I have been coming to El Merendero for years, and they always have great food and super friendly customer service. When we were looking for restaurants to cater a family party, El Merendero was the perfect fit. The owner Carmen was so thorough and accommodating throughout the entire process. She used her talents to help us create the perfect menu that looked and tasted incredible. All of our guests raved about the food and the presentation. Maria, Victoria, and Hector, the team of servers that worked the party could not have been more friendly and attentive. They prepped each plate with care and culinary creativity. They even brought some of their own serving dishes to make each course look extra special! They made a night we will never forget even more special than we could have ever imagined, thank you...

I was a huge fan until my husband ordered a burrito.. when we received the burrito we were for sure she our server listen carefully since we said no onion in English twice and Spanish twice..it looked intentional as if they put a huge spoon of cilantro and chopped onions. My husband is highly allergic.. but the server acted like she did not care.. well this is the second incident there a while back I ordered the chili Verde plate and found 3 flies in them..It was disgusting.. I should of known beter to come back.. I guess this resturant does not do a good job of listening and is very unsanitary. The health department should be called on.. or maybe hire servers that speak English so this will never happen again ..I do not recommend this...
