The staff at the new Dunkin Donuts location here on Giles was really cool this morning when I missed the sign on the door saying that their credit card machines aren't working yet. (In my defense, there is a brick pillar that is oddly close to the front door that would have obstructed my view of it as I approached from my car. I was in a hurry to get to work.)
I gave my order. Immediately after, as I pulled my CC out of my pocket, the girl behind the counter mentions the lack of ability to process cards and asked if I was able to pay with cash.
I asked, "Was there a sign? Did I miss it?" Sure enough, I looked over my shoulder and saw the back of it on the door. I was a little embarrassed. I don't carry cash, either.
The manager there must've picked up on what I was feeling and did a really cool thing. They had already made most of my order so they just gave it to me with a smile and insisted that it was OK when I objected and asked for a receipt of some kind so that I could come back and pay for it tomorrow.
As I grabbed my items and dug in my pocket for my keys, I found a $10 bill that I didn't realize that I still had from laundry over the weekend. I sheepishly held it out as an offering but they still refused insisting, "We're good!" They thanked me for coming in and smiled profusely the whole time.
So the $10 went into the tip jar as I thanked them and left. I'm just impressed. This fairly new crew and a handful of managers all greeted me on the way in - catching me off-guard. They were friendly and kept things from being awkward. It all seemed so easy for them.
This really made my day. Thanks...
Read moreI used to work at this location. I stopped by for a simple coffee and a glazed donut this morning. I’m not sure if the African American women is the new manager of this location but if so someone from HR needs to save this location before she makes it fold. That was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced from anyone. I asked for some more caramel in my coffee because I specifically ordered extra. When the nice young lady in the window handed it to me I politely asked if she could put a little more in. She said yes of course. As soon as she took the drink back the manager (or whomever she may be) immediately snatched the drink from her employees hand and handed it back to me specifying that she’s the one who made it and the drink was fine. I nicely said “okay but could I get more caramel I ordered extra.” As her employee is trying to explain to her that I the customer ordered extra she then throws an attitude and tell me she’s going to have to charge me for it. I paid for the coffee, I ordered extra caramel. This women needs to quit arguing with paying customers. On top of that I ordered a glazed donut and the donut I got had no glaze on it. Someone needs to come help this location immediately. You could see how uncomfortable her young employees were and you could feel the hostility in the building just from being in the car. Worst experience I’ve had anywhere. I hope they get this under control sooner...
Read moreI stopped going to this location several months back after the drive-thru wait times got so bad it wasn't worth it (and they closed down the lobby so I couldn't go inside for pickup). About a month ago I tried again when I saw that the drive-thru line was empty for multiple days in a row (I thought they'd actually closed down). Got in and out, friendly, etc., and so I went again this morning since the line was short.
No exaggeration, I ended up spending 29 minutes from when I ordered to when I finally got out of there (sticker on my coffee has time of 7:40:34 AM listed, and I texted my coworker from the parking lot at 8:09). Most of that was me being stuck behind a large black pickup truck that sat at the window for over 15 minutes.
I don't know if it was the people in the truck or the workers inside, but I was stuck and couldn't leave because of where I was in line. Why aren't they directing the truck to pull forward and wait in the parking lot or something so they can get the backup of other vehicles out of there? I even tried calling the store but it rang multiple times with no answer before I finally gave up. I ended up being 15 minutes late to work because of this (again, I would have left but was physically unable to get out without driving over a curb and a small tree). I feel bad for the employees, but seriously - this...
