OMG. If you haven't gone to Ebony & Ivory Coffee yet...RUN! What an amazing coffee shop. The space is open with plenty of seating but get there early for a seat by the largest screen I have ever seen! There is a grand piano upstairs with seating next to it. There is so much light, you get a gorgeous view of downtown Tacoma. The only thing I wish they had a few real plants. They had a few fake plants, but some real plants would really "liven" the place up.

As for the food, we ordered breakfast sandwiches. We got the Cowboy-- so delish! I don't know if their drinks change but it looked like they were having seasonal Valentines drinks, so I snagged the White Chocolate Raspberry Latte with oat milk. I was worried it would be too sweet, but it was heavenly. Not too sweet with just a hint of raspberry. My bf ordered an Americano. He loved it. There is plenty of room to spread out and not have people listening to your conversation. Great place to bring kids. Overall, the food was delicious, ambiance was great, and service was spectacular. I love the vibe in this coffee shop! It is so cozy and welcoming, and the iced lattes are incredible! On the other hand, the customer service needs some improvement. I discovered Ebony & Ivory Cafe after searching for Black-owned restaurants in the Lacey and Tacoma area. On that note, as a black woman, I expected to be treated as equal as the other non-black customers. To my surprise, I've experienced how the baristas are less "chatty" and welcoming with me when compared to non-black customers on several occasions. For example, upon my visit today, I was not greeted by either of the two non-black baristas. I was just simply asked about what I wanted from the menu, while the non-black couple behind me was greeted with a "Hi guys, what can I do for you?" and another non-black customer greeted with a "Welcome in". I continue to support this business because it is black-owned, but I would like to suggest to management to resolve this issue with the baristas, ensuring that they are all welcoming to EVERY customer, despite their race or...
