Terrible experience tonight. We are a family of 6, and 5 members of our family are GF + DF.
They provided a GF specific menu which was a huge plus, and since it was our first time in they offered us a free bowl of fresh made potato chips. Things seemed to start off nicely, but everything after that went downhill horribly.
They served 5 of us at once, and didn't serve my oldest daughter for 5-10 minutes later. Why keep her waiting for her food when she literally ordered the exact same menu item as a different kid of mine who was served at the same time as all of us?
The GF menu had some of the same items as the regular menu, but some of the toppings were different than the regular menu in some cases to exclude the gluten-containing items. That's great, or at least should be! In this case, the fried onions were not listed on the GF version of the menu because they obviously contain gluten. Except for the fact that they still brought her burger out covered in fried onions. Pretty awful. How do you add a GF bun and leave the fried onions on there?
Speaking of the GF bun. The menu says those burgers will be lettuce wrapped by default, or a GF bun can be added for an additional cost. We didn't ask for buns as we prefer lettuce wraps, but they all came with buns and they added the extra charge for those GF buns!
My wife and one of my daughters ordered street tacos with no cheese since they are DF. While the tacos didn't have cheese on top of them, both plates had a piece or two of shredded cheese right in the middle of the plate. Super careless and makes me wonder how much they care about peoples' allergies.
My wife's fish taco was one of the worst we've ever seen or tasted. It was slathered in wet, dripping coleslaw directly on the plain, unseasoned fish. The house made salsa was bland and tasted terrible mixed with the coleslaw. The portion was itsy bitsy with minimal fish buried in the coleslaw on each taco. Oh, and there was a piece of soggy lettuce on one of the tacos.
My wife's fish tacos, ordered off the GF menu came with a side salad. The salad was delivered with crunchy bread strips on top. Oh yeah, that's gluten, and this item was ordered off the GF menu, so the salad had to be sent back.
I ordered a certain burger that included cheddar, BBQ sauce, bacon, fried onions, and lettuce, and tomato. They brought out a very similar burger that instead had blue cheese and a different sauce, but they gave it to me and described it as the burger I had ordered. After one bite I realized the burger was covered in blue cheese (not my thing at all), and I told our server. She said to leave it there so the manager could come take a look. Does a manager really need to look at that?? He never came, she cleared it away, and she said she'd remove the cost for something from our order because of the delays and the mistakes. On the positive side, my replacement burger arrived quickly, around the same time that my daughter's burger finally arrived.
When we got our bill, it was still full price. I had had a really long day and didn't feel like arguing. I lowered our server's tip from the 20% default to 17%, paid, and left.
We'll never be back after and such a bad experience, and I'd caution you to think twice as well, especially if you have any allergies. The special GF menu appears to just be lip service. Very frustrating experience and a huge waste of $115 for 6 of us (we didn't order any drinks or apps tonight, and our two youngest kids shared a single burger which kept the cost...
Read moreThis establishment, is a very very, busy place! Upon arriving, i first noticed, the small parking lot, that doesn't offer chair accessible parking and is hardly big enough to accommodate the many many vehicles, that come and go! Upon exiting the vehicle, you could hear the music playing over the speakers, and the sounds of several people conversations, spilling out through the windows and doors, that were closed, mind you. Once we entered, we were met by an employee, who asked how many were in our party, and walked us to our table, told us our server would bee with us shortly, with menus and to take drink orders, then he walked away, assuming, back to the post at the front entrance. A minute or two later, the waitress came out to take our orders and serve us our ice waters and all of we wanted to order any appetizers. We hadn't decidedwhat we wanted for our meals yet but told her we wanted some fried pickle and fried zucchini appetizers, and told her we needed a little white to figure out what to order. She said she would leave us to figure it out, and check back in with us shortly. She was nice, as far as i could tell, in such a short time. The establishment appeared to be clean. Their were no visible hazards appeared to be mess free. The couple at the table beside us, had won some king of drawing and won a surprise gift, if which i had no way of telling anyone. She to ask of our orders, after answering all of our menu related questions. A few minutes later, she returned with our appetizers and said she would be back with our dinners shortly. Once inside, it was quite evident where the noise, heard outside, was coming from. Their were people at almost every table, all of whom, were in conversations, of all different nature and topics, but none of which were trying to keep their voices from being heard. I had read a review or 2 about the place, before stopping in to check it out. I can say, that the price estimated on their reviews, are far from correct, as the food was actually almost double the cost, from what the review stated. My hubby and mom each had a burger and tator tots. Both of which were great. A little on the juicy side, but the taste was great. I had the big Tony's bbq Mac and cheese, with pita bread, and it was, hands down, the best Mac and cheese ice ever tasted. They are spendy, and the atmosphere is loud, but they offer happy our, every day, during which time, some of their menu items as well as drinks are offered at a discounted price. The waitress came back once to refill drinks, and another to remove dirty dishes, and then one lay time to bring the check. All in all i can say it was an ok meal. The food was great which made the rest of the cons worth stopping in and giving a try. The food photo is off the big Tony's bbq Mac and cheese! It...
Read moreI was craving a blue cheese burger and so after looking through all of the options on Uber Eats, I settled on Hops and Drops.
I ordered myself the Black and Bleu burger add mushrooms and bacon, side of fries and an order of donuts. I ordered my husband an Avocado chicken salad. I knew that ordering food for delivery meant that the fries and bun may be soggy and so my expectations were pretty low. But the issues I had with the food had nothing to do with it being delivered and everything to do with the way it was prepared and the quality of the ingredients.
I took two bites of the burger and couldn’t take a third. The blue cheese was absolutely disgusting. Tasted overwhelmingly like bitter metal and mildew. All of the worst qualities of blue cheese with none of the good qualities. At least I had the donuts to help get the taste out of my mouth.
I opened the bag of donuts to discover they were still warm! Yummmmm! But my excitement quickly turned to dismay when I took a bite. The donuts had the unmistakable flavor of fry oil that needed changing—rancid onion rings and French fries. The generous coating of cinnamon sugar only made it more foul (and I love me some sugar). These donuts will go down in history as the first to ever go stale on my kitchen counter.
My husband’s salad was ok but pretty small for the price. He was still hungry after finishing it. I offered him the rest of my burger. He took one bite and said. “That blue cheese is awful!” My husband is the least picky eater you’ll ever meet.
All in all, a huge waste of $60 (that’s including a 15% discount using Uber rewards). Yeah, $60 for a salad, a burger and a little bag of 9 itty bitty donuts (think hostess mini donuts). I would be happy to pay that amount for a decent meal that actually filled our stomachs rather than the trash can.
Update: I gave this place a second chance. I ordered a bacon cheese burger, fries, and a side of Mac and Cheese. The Mac and cheese was $6.25 through Uber eats and you can see what I got in the photo. The customer service I received when I called the restaurant to add to my order was fantastic which is why I...
