Restaurant: Sakura Japanese Restaurant 265 Colony Blvd. The Villages FL, 32162 Main Question: Is the food worth the price? Answer: Maybe, but we have had better for less. Wait Time: It is important to note they tell you 15 - 20 minutes but, they told us that 3 times after each time passed. Food: The food was okay to good. The entire party semi-enjoyed their food. We tried several selections from the shrimp udon soup to the edamame and several sushi rolls. We had the green tea and while I'm used to the traditional small cups that are more Japanese style, these were coffee mugs that held a lot more green tea. While the atmosphere would take a hit for having a diner mug, I really enjoyed having a giant mug of tea. So, I'm happy. Atmosphere: This was okay. It was so busy that I really didn't get to get any pictures of the atmosphere other than one. I felt more like I was in the Mel's Diner than I was at a Japanese restaurant. The lights on the plates are blinding to the other tables and need to stop. I understand why they are there but the table next to us had it facing towards us and it was blinding. This, alone, would be a reason I wouldn't return. The picture doesn't show it well enough to explain how blinding and uncomfortable this light was nor does it show that the people next to us were nice but weren't getting the point when we told them how blinding the light was in our eyes because they didn't turn it off although they were very nice, as our eyes were blinded. Cleanliness: The hot tea mugs came out dirty. I scraped the food or dirt off the side of the mug. The bathrooms were not cleaned well and the sink looked bad. They did clean the table, seats and the floor before we sat down. I was happy to see that. Service: They were extremely busy. The server was very abrupt in taking the drink order at the point of not being able to provide enough time to make a decision. He did keep the drinks filled and that made us happy. As the night went on and the place became less busy, the service did get better. Price: It was $150 for four of us to eat there and we don't drink alcohol. Recommended: Maybe. I'm quite certain there must be better Japanese places out in The Villages but this place wasn't bad. This place will get 3 stars from me.

Best prices in the Villages, best quality and more. Anyone who suggests this place is "pricey" wouldn't be satisfied if they were provided a free meal, which this place provided the last time I went here! I'm not sure why, probably because it was so busy, they were providing complimentary appetizers of fried crab and cream cheese with a lovely presentation (pic enclosed). They do a lunch special of terriayki chicken, vegetables and rice with mushroom soup and a green salad for something like $12 - you're given TWO chicken breasts and a LOT of food - enough for lunch AND dinner. They're very careful with allergies which makes them priceless, prompt, professional, courteous and fast. It's always delicious and I couldn't recommend more highly - absolutely fabulous!

Excellent food and service but the decor doesn't fit the service and food. The attached photo is what i would expect from Japanese restaurant. Part of it is the experience... Low lighting, lanterns, authentic decor. I felt like i was eating take out chinese food sitting in plastic black booths (with red napkins would be a completely different feel vs disposable take out napkins) no asian music and no warm quaint feel. You have a great place and a few bucks would make a world of difference with the atmosphere and ambiance. Kudos to the chef and wait staff for doing such a great job!

This place has not been open very long, only about 2 weeks I believe. It has a huge selection and a menu that is slightly overwhelming at 4 pages of very small type set. The prices for anything other than the rolls are a little bit higher than I would have expected for this type of food and this location. While the sign out front said Happy Hour 2 for 1 beer I was not given a second beer though we arrived at 5:30. After hearing somebody else complain I found out that it only applies to drafts. If that's the case, they need to change the sign to reflect that. I ordered a noodle bowl that was supposed to be chicken but it ended up being a vegetable bowl I brought it to the waitress's attention simply because I did not want to be charged for a chicken bowl when I received the significantly cheaper vegetable. The food had good flavor and was served hot and was nice in appearance. There was a lot of discussion and arguing amongst the manager and the wait staff while we were there as well. Not exactly what you want to hear when you're trying to enjoy a dinner! It wasn't horrible, but with the range of choices here in the villages we probably will...

Good but my advice is to have the server read the order back to you after taking it because she misunderstood what I said. When I realized what I was going to order was appetizer size, I said "Oh OK I'll get somethng else" and she thought I meant "I'll get this in addition to that" when in fact I meant I wanted to get a bigger item instead. When she brought out the appetizer I didn't order, I said I didn't order it, and she said, "But you said you wanted something else" and I said, "Yes, I meant I wanted something different" and she was acting like she thought I really had ordered it but didn't want it now or something. I saw her munching on it later. Meanwhile the green tea I drank at 6pm gave me heartburn and kept me awake till 4 am. I had the avocado and mango roll which was really great and I didn't care for the miso soup and niether did my friend from work. But it's really overpriced there honestly and I won't be back because the staff are not particularly friendly or...
