Ok, so I stopped here by.total 'chance today, only because I needed change from a bill! Since donuts are a personal weakness, I will never pass up the chance to try out a new place so I was pleasantly surprised when the first business open early this morning we're talking 5:00 a.m., happened to be this little donut shop that was about a mile out of my way at the time. The staff had just opened and unlike many other places I have visited, there shelves of donuts were completely full in their entirety, and it wasn't a situation where you're standing there waiting for them to get ready for the morning once they're open these gentlemen were completely on point and ready to go. That said I asked what their most popular ones were, and he shared with me the simple response of "whatever you see the most of is what we sell the best! " So just out of curiosity because the first one that caught my attention in all honesty, was a brightly pink glazed type cake donut yet there were only three. When I asked him why that was and what flavor it is, he responded with *strawberry" and, then said "no, it's not a popular one"- they only sell about three to six per day." It sounded like people just don't tend to try it! Which, I thought kind of funny because it was actually the first one I noticed! The first thing I noticed in their presentation, was how extremely puffy they all looked. I don't know about you, but for me a donut that has a lot of puff to it tends to be very airy and what a donut is supposed to be like on the inside, at least speaking for the yeast donuts where it's air pockets and a very soft I don't want to say raw but near raw type of dough. All I will say is that the first one I tried was a cinnamon sugar twist, which in itself I have never tried one quite like this because it's always usually just a sugar twist. this does not have cinnamon spun into the bread it is only sprinkled on top within the sugar but let me tell you how Divine and incredible this was! I recommend this little spot to anybody who is close enough to go. It is owned by a Vietnamese family and they sell a specialty Vietnamese coffee that is made of a little bit higher caffeine and served over ice with a condensed sweetened milk and if you would like a flavoring shot but I can assure you, you will not be disappointed it was absolutely amazing. I felt the pricing was fairly on point it was 9:50 for a half dozen which I got. And then I got a field lemon raised type thing sorry, I forget what they're called, and another specialty one and for those it was two for five. I thought that was pretty reasonable All Things considered but it was under $20 for a half dozen, the two specialties and the Vietnamese sweet coffee over ice. I will drive the 45 minutes out of my home area just to go here again, no doubt about it. To the gentleman who helped me and was very kind in his explanations of their products, as well as his patients while I decided because sometimes that takes me forever, bless your sweet soul, and your products are absolutely to die for! I will be sharing the word of this with my fellow donut lovers! Thank you for a great...

I never used to like apple fritters. My mama always said that if you don’t like a food, it’s probably because you haven’t had it prepared the right way. And boy, was she right—especially when it comes to these apple fritters.
Normally, apple fritters are doughy, overcooked, dry, and suspiciously void of apples, let alone apple flavor. But that couldn’t be further from the truth here. Just look at these beauties: the crispy golden-brown exterior, the ideal thickness, the perfect size—pure perfection.
The flavor? Out of this world. These fritters are bursting with apple goodness. The first bite greets you with a satisfying crunch, softening as you work your way toward the center. All along this delicious journey, your palate is treated to a harmonious blend of apple and cinnamon, elevated by the perfect amount of REAL apple pieces.
If you’re anywhere near the East Bay, you owe it to yourself to stop by the best doughnut shop around. Johnny’s is a Lafayette institution, crafting doughnut perfection for generations. I can’t...
Read moreI'm so glad I finally tried Johnny's Donuts, which is now my new favorite donut shop in Contra Costa County! I went in around 10am on a Thursday with two people ahead of me in line. There was a good selection of donuts with everything I was hoping for, plus a surprise of seeing they had Ube donuts (5/5)! I LOVE Ube so I had to get one.
All the donuts were fresh. I also bought a chocolate glazed (5/5), vegan chocolate sprinkles (5/5), and gave my parter a maple bar, which he enjoyed. The owner was so nice and even gave me three free donut holes with my order.
I needed to make the $10 minimum to use my credit card so I also got a Vietnamese coffee (4/5), which was strong and tasty. I sat at one of their booths to enjoy my coffee and Ube donut, and enjoyed the old school, nostalgic atmosphere. I look forward to coming back to try more of...
