This past Fourth of July I went to odd13 to have a pint of their FreedomFan (the beer is basic and had much better before) but instead I was chastised by the bartender. The guy is a really tall caucasian, reddish/brownish beard and looks like a Seth Rogan wannabe. The guy told me I was wrong for what I was wearing (a red hat and an American flag shirt with marijuana leaves) and I politely said agree to disagree twice. After I had my one pint and was ready to tab out the bartender continued to be verbally abusive as I tipped him. I left shaking but went back to stand up for myself and my beliefs. I gave him feedback by letting him know that he shouldn't treat his customers like cheap beer and to keep his unwanted opinion to himself . He exploded and started to argue loudly where everyone in the bar can hear and see how he is mistreating a person of color. He became very racial assuming my race and origin and try to shove down what I should believe as a Latino. His body language was threatening as he was puffing his chest up and down rapidly. I asked for his name several times but he chose to ignore me by tending to other customers until finally he said Johnson.
I came back the next day nervously to inform a manager of the incident. He passed the info along and later I receive a phone call. It was the verbally abusive bartender. He called to apologize but kept avoiding the fact of who he is in the company. His name is Ryan and he's the owner of the place. THE OWNER IS A RACIST! He said that he like to meet up at a different place to make up for his mistake. I have yet to hear back from him and it's been two weeks now. The beer has always been basic except for a few but it never stopped me from coming back until Ryan provided the shoddiest service I have ever received. Ryan doesn't care at all about his customers, especially people of color, as long as they continue to buy his sub par beer.
EDIT: Since the owner has responded I will accept that Ryan the owner isn't the one who harassed me but another Ryan however everything about this review is true. Also I have yet to receive a phone call from both Ryan's to discuss what had happened and how we can move forward. Disciplining your employee without resolution shows that you really don't care at all for...
Read moreI've given this more thought than I should have considering what transpired at Odd13 on July 4th.
My group and I were appalled at the treatment of a young Hispanic male by one of the bartenders who happens to be the owner. (I did some digging around and found out it was Ryan.) I've been there many times and after what I witnessed that day, I will not be returning. The owner humiliated and berated this young man for his choice in wardrobe. I should have said something then, but was afraid of what might happen since the bartender was quite worked up and it made for a very tense and awkward situation to all that witnessed the event.
Being from an older generation, we were taught to respect others and their views even when we disagree. I don't know what's become of the world where some think this is acceptable behavior, but I...
Read moreCool place, very simple and relaxed. Friendly staff. Good place to sit and BS or watch the game - they have several TVs. Not a big room, which is fine. Rough wood panelling on the walls that match the basic tables. Soft light. Lots of windows. Smallish bar, seating for about 10. Patio out back with a food truck and several picnic tables and lawn-type furniture. But it's enclosed by the building, so it's not the greatest atmosphere out there. Still, nice to hang out on a warm day.
The odd name comes from their line up of beer, which is a group of super hero beers that are supposedly protecting your taste buds from boredom. OK, a little bizarre, but what the hell. A swing at something different. Can't say I'm super excited about these particular heroes, but if you don't like them, they have...
