the bartender double dipped her mixing spoon I decided to eat at Tangerine this past Friday because I've passed by several times while it was still under construction and was excited to see what they now have to offer the community. I waited about 20 minutes to be seated and because I was by myself, I was ok with the option of sitting at the bar in hopes of shortening my wait. The wait time for a Friday afternoon (around noon) kind of surprised me especially considering there isn't much happening in Lafayette around that time of day but, whatever. So, I sat at the bar and ordered a flavored latte with some buttermilk pancakes and tempeh. The latte was a bit bitter tasting even with the added flavoring and the tempeh needed to be drowned in ketchup to mask the bland taste of it. My pancakes were the only thing that tasted good but the tiny cups of syrup that came out with it could barely coat half my pancakes, so I asked for more syrup and got another tiny cup. There was a guy sitting next to me that ordered pancakes as well and when he asked for more syrup, the bartender brought him the bottle that usually goes on the table. Hhhhmmm, trying to impress the males more than female patrons, Ms. Bartender?? So, anywhoo, I continue eating my meal and from the corner of my eye, I notice the bartender making a drink. The two older ladies on my other side asked what it was and she told them it was a margarita. No problem here. Once the bartender finished doing her thing and poured the drink in a glass, she took a spoon to sample it. Apparently it didn't meet her standards because she opted to add more lime. The spoon she used to sample the drink was still in her hand (no rinse or wash off) which is what made me pay close attention to her actions. In my mind I kept saying "she better not put that spoon back in that drink" and after shaking it back up to mix the added lime juice, the bartender dipped the spoon back into the drink to sample it again and then placed it on the counter for the server to pick it up. BARF! This unsanitary practice coupled with my bland temphe and bitter latte has allowed me to conclude that I will never eat here again. Actually, it reminds me why I stopped eating out at restaurants altogether. You never know whats going on in and out...
Read moreWent here for the first time this past Sunday after driving by it for a few years now and never stopping. We were sat right away because we were okay sitting outside. Patio does offer plenty of shade, so it was okay even on a super hot day like it was, the wait for inside was going to be 20-25 mins for our table of 3(2 and a high chair)
We got our drink order taken almost immediately and then our food order didn’t take took long to take afterwards. I got the chicken & waffles with their house made chai, iced. The waffle was very good, the chicken was not. Insanely dry, the breading had absolutely no flavor, chicken had no flavor, you definitely needed a steak knife to cut it properly because I hurt my hand a couple times trying to cut it with the butter knife they give you 🤣 The butter they give you also comes, basically completely melted which isn’t the best when it comes to waffles… My boyfriend got their monte cristo and he did say his was good. I got my son a side large pancake. I’m not entirely sure if they actually have a designated kids menu as we weren’t given one, but we were told they had a kid pancake when we went to order the side large pancake.
Service is good, no issues or complaints there. I would like to go back and give another dish a try because they did have some other interesting & good looking items, but I would not recommend the chicken and waffles. For almost $20, the amount of chicken you get isn’t enough for the amount of waffle and, like mentioned above, the chicken was just plain awful. They need to brine it or at least do SOMETHING because it tasted like they panko breaded and...
Read moreToday(Mother's day) was our first time eating out as a family since COVID started. Tangerine has an excellent menu, and the staff was all cheerful. I know there are numerous reasons for the service to be a little off, as business ramp back up after the past year and my expectations where very low, but our experience was inexcusable. We put our name in and waited a little over an hour for a table. They took our order and brought our drinks. The problem is that we where then forgotten. We had a couple visits from waitresses, but after 50 minutes we had to ask where our food was. The tables around us all of which where seated much after us, all had already gotten their food. We were told our ticket had been lost, but they would get our food right out. We had been seated at 1:04 and we were served our breakfast at around 2:15. They did take 25% off the ticket, which is OK, but not enough. My wife and I both have a lot of food servcie experience, and it is our experience that this should have never happened. Even if they lost our ticket, there was only 3 other tables outside and some one should have noticed that we weren't getting our food. Also our entire breakfast should have been comped, or we should have been given a bigger discount and a GC to come back and try them again. The servers where all cheerfully which help us make the best of the situation(although they should have noticed). Portions where surprisingly small for the price, but the food was delicious and besides our long wait the servcie was good. They have an excellent menu, and I hope they get their...
