Unsanitary Silverware
I just left Pete’s. It was the first time I have been in several years. The remodel was very well done. Everything looked good and clean. My waitress seemed annoyed that I didn’t want to order immediately when she handed me the menu. The menu is a lot different than last time I came so I wasn’t sure what I wanted. She came back and I told her I would like the spring salad with grilled shrimp. After a little while she brought my food and asked if I needed anything else. I told her I would like some silverware please. She reaches over to the other side of the table and aggressively slides a glass towards me while making a aggravated face at me along with a disgusted sigh. The glass had silverware in it. Admittedly I didn’t see it on the other side of the table but there is no reason for her response. Additionally I noticed it was probably around five pieces of assorted silverware in an ordinary red drinking glass along with several other items in the glass. Silverware was not wrapped in a napkin or anything and I got the impression that it doesn’t get changed out, only refilled.
Between the unsanitary silverware and a waitress that apparently thought I was too much trouble, I decided I was done. I don’t take kindly to rudeness. Food looked good though.
I remembered the salad was $9 and the menu said adding shrimp brings it to $15. I had $29 cash in my wallet so I left that on the table underneath the silverware glass. I figured that is more than enough to cover the check with taxes and even a tip. I walked out without eating because I was aggravated
I used to go here often for lunch years ago.
If it would not have been for the waitress and the silverware I probably would have given a five...
Read moreI visited a few months ago but every time I drive by I'm reminded of it so here we go.
First off, our server wasn't very good which is more dependent on the server and not always the businesses' fault. They got an order wrong and didn't check back to take care of refills even when trying to flag them down. My visit was not during peak hours so it's not like they were slammed. Again, I could get past that and come back to give Pete's another try.
But my big issue is their credit card fee. Nowhere inside, at the register, or in the menu do they disclose their 10% fee for using a credit card. The server also didn't mention it when I gave them my card. I didn't find out until I looked at the credit card machine receipt.
When leaving I spoke with a manager at the host station, who was polite, about the fee and if I had missed it being mentioned anywhere. They acknowledged it wasn't posted inside but pointed out it was posted outside on the front door. Alright, "shame on me for not paying attention" in thought. I left it at that and decided to leave. So I checked the door on my way out and found a small, easy to miss sticker that states there is a CASH PAYMENT DISCOUNT.
Now at best, this is a grammatical error that they need to correct. At worst, this is intentionally misleading. If I paid in cash I really doubt they'd reduce my check from what's listed on the menu. I also shouldn't have to worry about fine print and "gotcha" fees when going anywhere but especially at a restaurant and bar.
Instead of leaving happy, even with the below average service, I left feeling cheated and take...
Read moreMe and my family decided to go for supper on Friday because I hadn't gone in a while and I was bringing my family there for the first time.
To start, this visit was ok, but what really brought down the score was the service. Our server was Anne, and at first, she seemed like a great waitress... until we needed refills or needed to be checked on. Most of the time, she was on her phone, and no one told her anything, which really hurt the service rating. Another minus was that when we got our bill, we were unaware of the correct total with the format they had on the check. The big numbers we saw led us to believe it was one thing, when in reality, the real amount was in a smaller font at the bottom, this confused us, and ultimately upset us. Thankfully, we were able to afford the cost.
Now, I used to go eat here when I was younger a lot of the time and always enjoyed their food every time, this visit was no different. It was a great flavor, and the amount of food we received was definitely worth the price, even if some things were a bit pricey. I've always liked the atmosphere, and with the recent remodel, it was better, so no complaints about that either. The music was upbeat and offered a variety, which is a plus, and the parking lot had plenty of space for us to park. The cleanliness was also on par, so good work there.
Overall: Aside from the terrible service and misleading check format, everything was really good, better in fact. I still recommend this place for any family, but please do better with the service. We may return in hopes of better...
